Kiss ass bunch of senators that cannot identify any funding while having a $1.34B debt and lets the Monarch get away with crap.

Optimistically delusional is what the whole bunch will maintain not to get on the manipulator's vindictive agenda.

A 6 car motorcade, mind you.
The man cannot resist pomp and extravagance.

Here's VIDN article.

Looks like a sail maker made most of those suits in that room. Obviously plenty to eat in the VI 😀

Another yawner. I suppose Mapp can fool some of the people some of the time.

I "bear" to watch "BS". It can be painful but seeing it as it unravels puts the ensuing comments and opinions into a wider perspective - which can also be painful to read. I didn't see or hear anything which came as any surprise. The delivery was as expected as was the content given the players involved. The grandiose plans and promises - along with the congratulatory backslapping - are mere words until results come forth. Ho hum.

One of my favorites was that we have to encourage overnight visitors. To do that we increase the hotel tax! As an aside, I did find it interesting that he said "everyone who rents rooms" must pay. I always wonder how many VRBO and airb&b owners pay hotel tax and/or gross receipts?

Also loved how we are going for sports tourism, especially horse racing!

I watched it because it is interesting to watch the privileged "dignitaries" in action.

3 thoughts:

1. Did anyone see Osbert Potter and how he "dapped up" Novelle Francis (or was it Gittens? it was one of those two) when he arrived. Potter always has such a giddy air about him like he's so stoked to be raking in the $ and having such power.

2. I loved the irony of the whole prayer at the very beginning, exhorting all the officials to be guided by the lord to do the right thing, etc. etc. Ironic since Mapp is spending like crazy and ironic given his diatribe against Jannet Melee-Young

3. Funny how we are doing so well now, with $230 million (or whatever the figure was) cash available now, vs the $13 or $30 (or whatever the figure was) a year ago. Well that money is from the Arclight deal and it's being spent like crazy. So where will be this time next year when it's all gone?

Back to square one of course.

Exactly. They're going to spend it all, or most of it, and nothing will be left next year.

Yes! It's sickening. An "I've made it!!!" look, as opposed to the look of a humble but dignified public servant. One big party. Room full of incompetents.

One other thought: did anyone notice how miserable most people looked?

For example Stacey Plaskett looked very glum. So did Neville James and a bunch of other people.

However there were a couple who looked positively as happy as clams: AG Claude Walker, and Vladimir Collens.

I know that look. It's the look of fear. Consider the judges. Their terms will ALL end under Mapp, leaving him free range to replace them. Surely, the Commissioners are aware of his previous staffing issues (Diase-Coffelt and other high-ranking lawyers walking out on him due to ethical disagreements). They know what Mapp is capable of, and they are aware that they can be destroyed at any second. He wouldn't hesitate to blast them (by calling the jacka$$es or other slurs) in the media either.

James and others have family working for the government. They know how high the stakes are. Feels more like Nigeria (in the political sense) than a U.S. territory.

He's, personally, doing his best to improve the hotel economy wherever he travels. He's certainly done so here on STT.
