Hello,
My Girl friend and I are a week away from moving to STX. We are wicked excited! We have not committed to an apartment yet and are wondering what else is out there. We are looking to pay no more than 800 and that's including utilities. If anyone even has a place to rent one week at a time to get us started please let us know. Thanks so much, Travis and Laura!!!

That may be a tough find. I was looking for a one bedroom a few months ago and the majority were around $1k/month, without utilities. I found one place for $1200 with utilities paid.

I'd send private messages to people listing on the classified board to get further info/pics/contact info and arrange walk thrus when you reach.

Best of luck! I'm guessing the "wicked" means you're coming from the NE?

People are really afraid to include electric because the rates change constantly and even a 1 bedroom can rack up a very high wapa (electric) bill if your careless. I know I did it the first time I rented my rental out and never did it again. People just aren't as careful when it's not there money. So if you find an apartment that includes electric ask if it has a/c, because 8 times out of 10 it won't or have W/D. You are usually responsible for filling your own water as well if you live out of town, which most people do.

I rent my 3/2 with everything but wapa. But that's not the norm. Sometimes when they say partial furnished they just mean the fridge and stove. Sometimes they mean a mattress. So always go look in person!

Best case scenario is to try to find a very small one bedroom or studio in the $600 to $700 range and pay for wapa yourself.

Happy home hunting, hope you love STX!
