I agree with everyone. We have been 8 times as it is close to the house. Our service was terrible except for 1 meal at dinner. Breakfast has been terrible everytime. Bad service, undercooked eggs, no coffee refills and grounds in the coffee. Our dinner was very good and service was ok. Breakfast staff doesn't seem to know what to do. There are plenty of staff there but they seem stoned or drunk. La La land. The last breakfast we had our waitress was not even there. She would come by the table and ask if we needed anything and we would tell her then we never saw her again. We had our food but no silverware. Finally we got up and got it ourselves. This could be a great restaurant if they can get it together. Forget to go orders. You have to check the whole thing before you leave.

This is my first restaurant review and I have lived here for 5 years. I never bash any place I have eaten but this place needs new servers.

We went to Blue Terrace Friday night, the food was very good. We had the fried chicken and the pork loin. Lots of food, took half home had it for lunch the next day.
Our server was very attentive. I did notice a couple of young men standing around looking like they don't know what to do.
I don't like the high tables next to the railing. If you are sitting behind the high tables you are looking straight at someones butt. Not the view I wanted to see.

I have to agree with the previous posters. Every single time we go there we have absolutely horrible service. We stopped going to dinner there because the dinner prices are high as some of the really nice restaurants but with dreadful, surly service. If I'm going to pay $45 for a steak I want the same kind of service I would get at Bacchus, Galleon or Kendricks.

We only go for brunch now because the food is so good but the service is either irritating in the extreme, rude, slow or a farce. The few times Lori has waited on us it was wonderful, but I think she would be much better off getting a whole new FOH crew. If my husband wasn't such a breakfast lover we would scratch it off the rotation completely. I totally agree with what someone else said, the staff seems high or hungover mostly at least at brunch.

It would be helpful if people would just say what restaurant they're talking about somewhere in their posting. Just sayin'

Sometimes it takes just a little bit of reading earlier posts. *-)

No doubt. But with the huge number of posts on this topic, wouldn't it be more efficient, and more polite, for posters to say what they're talking about and not make many many people re-read what they've already read?

Really?! The restaurant name is TWO posts up from your original one! Like someone on here said earlier, it's like joining a conversation at a cocktail party ( or anywhere). You wouldn't ask them to repeat everything they said before you got there. You have the benefit of being able to know by scrolling.

regarding: "poor service" and "what restaurant are we talking about"

I believe we're talking about "many" of the restaurants. 😎

Yesterday I had one of the best burgers I've had on island over at Off the Wall.
Never gotten a burger there before.
$7.50, -best view on the island included!

My first sentence of my post was I agree with the previous posters. The previous 4 or 5 post were about Blue Water Terrace. It surely didn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure out what I was speaking about. Yes my reply is a little snarky but I find rhtsoo's to be completely unnecessary and I really don't know what kind of response you were hoping for, it's like correcting someone's grammar. It's rude and unnecessary unless it's your child.

Hiya: my suggestion was not aimed at you or your post. It was just a friendly suggestion I had thought about making mNy times Nd happened coincidentally to make it after one of your posts. It isn't always clear what place someone is talking about. I try to say who I'm reviewing but I don't mean to start a flame war if others don't choose to. It was just a request and you don't have to follow it. I'm trying to learn, not teach.

I'm sorry I probably over reacted but it rubbed me the wrong way, still does. So I guess that's not much of an apology, but I am only human! 🙂

Blues Backyard BBQ has quickly become my favorite lunchtime spot on STX. The flavor they coax out of their super tender brisket, pork & chicken is unmatched by any other BBQ joint on island. Heck, even the sides are top notch. (My lady swears by the pasta salad)

The prices are super low for the VI, ($6-$8 for sandwiches & specials) thanks in part to the lack of immediate WAPA reliance and the focused, limited menu.

I reckon it won't be long before everybody is lining up at lunchtime to dig in on their delicious grub.
(Hell, even Chockman was there as a customer today)

Northside Rd. in Princess across from Progressive Vet.

sorry, but I agree with rhstoo. We are now 57 pages into this thread. Not that it's a big deal, but being able to pick up and figure out what the most recent posts are about w/out having to go back would be convenient. Then, if you want to, you can go back and follow the thread. Just sayin.

If reading the previous post is too much work for someone, I don't know what I or society can do to help them. Just sayin.

Just sayin...*-) *-) *-)

This thread is like reading a daily column. Its something you follow if it interests you. And instead of making *-) comments just read the thread...we can only hold your hand so long down here. Geesh even a food critique thread can turn into a "me" entitlement thread.

Back to food...

I ate at the 5 corners Asian restaurant and while the young girl chef/owner is very sweet, the food is not so good. Menu is kind of all over the place and is in different languages(yes plural). She had to explain everything and after I ordered it took 1 hour for my noodles. I hope she can be fluid and make changes to get it on track.

Still looking for a great pasta dish at a restaurant!! Without getting too into it, went back to Cultured Pelican after the last time, which was when the new mgmt first took over, and still didn't care for it. Both pasta entrees we got tasted like retirement home food. Bland. And still the pile of bean paste with garlic chunks stuck in it to put on the bread? I thought with a paesano running it, it would be great. Oh well. Make it like mamma used to! The dessert was fab -I guess there is an in -house pastry chef. If spending over $100 for entrees apps and wine, expected better. I have to stay home and make lasagna, I guess.

The only thing I have ever really liked at Tutto Bene was the butternut squash ravioli .. And the misto salad. Will have to try The Italian cafe again in downtown Christiansted/Sale e Miele (spelled wrong probably)....the last two times we tried to go to South Shore she "was closing early because no one made reservations."

Pasta rant .

OK, I finally made it to Flat Iron for pizza after hearing people proclaim it's the best on island. I must say that even with all the acclaim I was surprised at how good it is! They were out of 'large' dough (I take this to mean the dough isn't made at the restaurant) so they made us a couple of the individual sizes instead which worked out just fine. Wife tried the calzone which was also good. Will definitely be back a time or two...

Try the Waves @ Cane Bay. They have great pasta dishes for specials. Open at 6pm Tues-Sat. and have a Sunday brunch. My fiance had a pasta dish with fish and mussels last time we were there and I as always have the coconut shrimp...mmm!! Also the view is FABULOUS! and people seem to like to see the chef pull the live lobsters out of the tidal pool when one has been ordered.

You know I have never eaten at The Waves. Will try it. Used to go to Bogey's out that way on Mondays for taco buffet and $2 margaritas.

Linda, I thought the same thing.
I said "Wow, oil wrestling...what kind of crowd does THAT bring in?" to which he responded "A big crowd!"

I think he misunderstood my question..
