Savant: Had dinner Thursday night. Couldn't get a table out back but inside was quite nice. Both mahi specials were wonderful. Service was good. The place was packed by the time we left. And their chocolate martini was excellent!

To The Bistro: Where exactly in Gallows Bay is your restaurant located? A group of us (4-6) play golf on Wednesdays @ The Buccaneer and we would be interested in chk'ng out a new place for lunch.

It's where Anna's Cafe used to be - across the street from the Post Office.

DanielB_STX -- Thanks for the update. The golf group will just have to be patient and we'll continue to have our Wednesday lunches at No Bones Cafe or Bradley's until Bistro is open for biz..

Went to Pirates Tavern, I had the blackened mahi with a salad which was very good and very spicy. My husband had the Chimi changa, (not sure if I spelled it right) it was huge and also very good. We love the chips and salsa. They took out the old steps and opened it up to put more tables out. It looks great.

I heard The Bistro will be quite the place- island 's closest thing to a Panero . We so need that especially at Gallows Bay. Can't wait until it opens! It has created quite a buzz !

Brady's is on Queen Street in Christiansted, close to St. Mary's Catholic church school.

My apologies to Pirates' Taven for complaining about their "red" rice. I still don't care for it....but, we're in Arizona this week, and believe me, we have had some outstanding authentic mexican food, and the rice is, indeed, red! I asked and was told it's tomato (she thought). LOL

I've been to Pirate Tavern several times now and am very pleasantly surprised. Their meats are slow cooked and are very tasty and that is half the battle. Their style to me is much more TexMex, not Mexican. But it is definitely the best the island seen in a very very long time. The chips are freshly home made and delicious. As are all the main dishes. Their salsa's are a bit bland but I understand why down here.

On the con side, the rice is indeed hideous, they need to lay way way off the tomato paste. I've never had that and never seen it in Mexico or Texas. All I taste is the tomato paste, to me it's absolutely disgusting. The beans need more flavor. They need to as some lard, like bacon grease maybe a more jap and/or cheese. Also they make their ice tea in the same pot as the coffee, always a bad idea because the tea will always taste like coffee.

All in all it seems like a real winner. The service is really very friendly and consistent. The service is also very very good. The menu is very cheap. We will definitely keep going.

@Topsider last night. Chicken Quesadilla was very good. Hubs' hot roast beef was very good but the English chips started out great but got a little soggy. Bonus - Steve Katz!

Lunch @The Golden Rail. Good food, big sandwhiches, cold beer. And if you love looking at boats - great scenery.

Kudos again to Good Spirits on the East End. They were open Sunday, which is a plus, and the special was a bacon wrapped quail dish stuffed with cornbread and jalepenos. Nice! And the price is not inflated like in the "a/c" restaurants. Don't mind sitting at a picnic table for fabu food.

Also have been loving Blues BBQ in Princesse. It seems when they're not operating a full on place they can concentrate on the quality of the food more. Same with a good ol sandwich from Quality Subs 'trailer' in Castle Coakley. Try the toasted turkey sub. Mmm mm.

Went to Bacchus Wed. night for dinner, as always everything was wonderful. The service is top notch. They took the time to help us choose the right wine for our dinner which was great. Our food was cooked perfectly. Thanks Tim and staff, we will be back.

Had lunch at Case Place in Gallows Bay yesterday and was delighted. Partied at Eat@Cane Bay today for Mardi Croix and then had dinner at Rowdy Joes. So far, in four months here, we've had two bad meals: one at Church's and one at KFC. We know better now and are usually beyond pleased. This is definitely one good food island.
