My friend was held up at gun point in the bath room at H2O at diner time Tuesday. A punk 16 year old stole his wallet. He was NOT wearing a mask. Described kid to the police.

The one out west I heard, two more punks went to rob some dude, and they choose the wrong guy to mess with. The victim took the gun from the one kid a shot them both. One was fatal, the other had to go to the Hospital after being caught by police.

I now carry a mug wallet with a $20 in it. They can run with that. I should carry a hand grenade and hand that to them, it's just the mess!!!!

Cheers to the guy on west end. Fight fire with fire. Bruno , I like the grenade idea better than the mug wallet : )

I know people are angry and upset about the crime that plagues us but remember that these young men have families.
It is a tragedy that they thought that criminal behavior was was they way to go.
One has already lost his life and another faces a long prison term.

One would think that given the size of the islands and our limited population, those trafficking in illegal weapons could be found and stopped.
Too many children and young men have access to weapons.

How can someone be held up at gunpoint at H2O and it not make the local rag?

I read this. " My friend was held up at gun point in the bath room at H2O at diner time Tuesday. A punk 16 year old stole his wallet. He was NOT wearing a mask. Described kid to the police."
Figured it was just as valid as your comment. Unless of course you have a quotable source that says there wasn't one.

Glad to see they are charging the wounded accompliss with murder. Hope the charge sticks.
Why would they remand him to his parents? If they had any control or influence in his life he would not have been out robbing. Heard this was the two that robbed and pistol whipped the owners of Coconuts.

That depends on the parents.

It would be great if these were also the Coconuts robbers. Any info on whether or not anyone has asked the Coconuts victims to ID the guy?

I assume his injuries are severe enough to make him a problem in the jail system. Cheaper to send him home.

What is that you say?

Our jail system has no medical facilities to care for inmates? At least medical facilities or staff who could take care of a guy well enough to go HOME instead of THE HOSPITAL?

Shocking.

Not true - I know for a fact that the St. Croix prison employed a full time Registered Nurse. I cannot vouch for the facilities however.

I understand it can be done. My comment referred to the cost related to the care.

So then why'd they send an alleged murderer home?

Well, that, and the lack of general interest among the prison system to care for medically or mentally disabled inmates. We'd rather spend our money on jackboots and flak jackets and paraphrenalia (like the dB readers, foodie?) than actually CARE for people.

People are sent to prison AS punishment. Not FOR punishment. How quickly we forget that.

http://www.vipd.gov.vi/Crime/Suspects_on_House_Arrest/Suspects_on_House_Arrest_St_Croix.aspx

Four of these 12 men on house arrest have been convicted of first degree murder. One of those four is only on house arrest for 12 hours at night. I just don't understand the VI system. Saving money is one thing, but this appears to be a bit extreme.

Also, the prison does have a doctor... Dr. Park, who has also worked in the ER for nearly 30 years.
