STT and STJ all without power and it went off before the we had a thunder and lightning storm and pouring rain. Still out and residential areas will be last to go online. Glad I have my generator as have a busy day.

I just posted the latest VITEMA advisory on another thread.
Might be a long day, folks.
I have to wonder WTF is up with WAPA and these outages we get, without there being bad weather.
Happy hurricane season!

Saw a picture on F/B and the restaurant and bar completely burned to the ground. They won't be back in business till they clean up the mess and re-build.

Drove out to take a look. Almost total destruction.

About 3am people heard a "boom", 30 minutes later engulfed in flames.
People are guessing lightning.

There has been a lot of tension between the owners of the resort and the operator of the restaurant as well as nearby residents since Shoreline opened. Its not surprising that arson is suspected.

Arson suspected? The reports I read indicated that it was likely a lightning strike which started the fire.

That was right around the time we were in the brunt of the storm. I was up "thundershirting" the dog, and trying to calm her down. I'm about a mile away and it got bright and very loud for a short time. We'd already had 2 decent rain showers before that. I would think anyone planning arson would have picked another night, when a storm system wasn't passing through. But better to wait for more info, because it's all speculation at this point.

Maybe a thunderstorm is the perfect time. It helped Andy Dufrense escape from Shawshank prison 😉 joke by the way.....
