Has anyone taken the ferry from Christiansted to Charlotte Amalie recently, since Smith's took over? I'd like to know how was the crossing.

I realize it depends on weather, but generally how rough is it? I need to get to St Thomas, and the ferry would be more convenient and less costly than Cape Air. From the flight schedules it looks like I could change my mind at nearly the last minute if necessary.

Thanks.

I did just in the beginning of January...

If you have been on one of those fast rides that drops you down 70mph in kings dominion or any other theme park it is just like that but 1 hour and 45 minutes long... I loved it, but if you are not extreme person I would fly better.

It depends on the swells....if there under 2 feet i do well. I get seasick very easily. If its in the 3 and the further up that number goes the worse the bouncing (nice term for what it feels like more like the roughest horse you've ever ridden). If you get seasick take the your medicine well before you get on and you should be fine. For what they charge though you can take the seaplane cheaper if you book ahead.
