well 1st friday was a flop lastnight, at 7:30 i took a walk and i saw 3 open stores and they were all on the corner of strand and queen cross, most store owners think it's a waste of time and in months with a jump up there should not be a first friday, and a cab driver told me the cabs don't drop off at market square on ship days anymore but down at gov parking lot because they were more or less told by a store owner down in that area to do this and then some cruise ship passengers told me that they were told there's nothing on company street and they should avoid it,lol oh the drama, and the maitenence for the guy that owns thebongo's property toldmethat 54 was going to takethe bar over,i wish it would just stay closed, everytime it's open the drug dealers congregate on the corner

I don't know about the baseball bat but the nail in the trunk works. My grandfather used to do that to get trees to produce.

Tami, we installed our retractable screen door today . . . have you installed yours? It was a little tricky since our door frame isn't designed like the examples they had in the instruction book. Guess that's why my man doesn't read the instructions . . . got it working like a charm!

What's the deal with the nail? My tangerine and orange trees having nothing but leaves. How fast will the nail work? I'm running out of OJ for mimosas!

Watched the fireworks from deck . . . good show again!

It's been pretty windy today off and on in the rain forest. Just a couple sprinkles earlier. Bright moon now.

Hoping to get to Rowdy Joe's tomorrow.

I have been whining and moaning the last couple of days feeling down. Hubby and I took the afternoon off and went to the Buccaneer for a couple of hours and then home to shower, feed the animals and then off to Sunset Grill for dinner and fire works. Our food was long in coming and I took a bite of my baked potato and made the comment that it wasn't quite done and I was still feeling a bit grumpy wanting to complain. Hubby ever so gently took my chin to face him and said, " We are on a beautiful island in the Caribbean, dining by torch light, watching beautiful fireworks. Our son is playing with other children having a great time not bothering us. A lot of women would kill to have what you have". Wow, what an eye opener. Happy 4th everyone.

Our gardener told us that his grandmother always said to take paper bags and beat the tar out of your bushes and trees to make them grow and bloom. Right after that Hurricane Rita came through this area (S.E. Texas), beat the tar out of the bushes for me and sure enough EVERYTHING grew wildly and bloomed unusually for months after that. So maybe there's something to the bat after all! I've heard of putting nails in the soil around certain plants to make the flowers turn a different color-- I believe it's the iron that does it. Keep talking to the papayas!:-) When I read that plants responded to talk/music/emotions, I started rubbing on the leaves and talking lovingly to one of my more pathetic house plants like it was a sick child and you wouldn't believe how that thing responded. It was amazing to see. Then I got bored , or forgot to do it and the poor thing is back to limping along. I feel guilty now everytime I catch sight of it. Thank goodness it couldn't talk back--- I've already got a mother to nag me about ignoring her....;)

dougtamjj -

i know you have had a rough past couple of weeks, so it's understandable how just about anything would get under your skin. so glad the hubby could bring you gently to earth. it's not always easy living in paradise, but we are all here for a reason, especially if we have chosen to be here (i've heard it referred to as "here by choice, not by chance").

cheers to you!

One of mine is outside barking and running around outside like she's a mad dog. But start a weedwacker and she's attached to my leg. I figure once every couple of months she gets a great work out.
