Hi Savanna,

We're a hosted show, so we don't necessarily use "stand-ins", however, we will probably be down at the Brew Pub Friday night filming so if you want to show up and make the place look really packed, feel free!

TRW...........why do you hate America? Do you think you could have the freedoms you currently enjoy in another country?
If Glen Beck, a pot smoking rasta & the ex cracking out bums you about this country, perhaps you should try the Congo, Iran or try hanging with N Korea's dear leader. Your anger is really bad as of late...............damn it man get laid! hahahaa

And some of think it just sound like more welfare, which I'm not against in the short term a year or two max. But after that you should be able to get on your feet and take care of yourself.

The one and only thing I think I agreed with Bush was charity should be in the private sector not the govt sector. But there's very little hope of being able to downsize the govt programs at this point. I just don't want to see a huge new monster created.

I think we can do something to reform healthcare without creating a govt healthcare nightmare. I don't understand why it has to be black or white. Life is just not like that. We need some common sense middle ground.

Trw, what income tax bracket are you in?

Of course a nation should take care of it's people. The handicapped, children, elderly, ect. People who are unable to take care of themselves. The people who have no family to take care of them. The rest should take care of themselves and not expect the government to care for them from birth to grave because they made bad life choices or do not want to work. I personally think the programs in place right now does take care of the people but it is greatly abused. If the government worked harder to give people a hand up instead of a hand out, giving incentives to make people more self supporting things might be better. I for one do not want to pay anymore taxes for government programs were under the guise of helping the helpless where money is misappropriated or where an earmark is tacked to a bill that is designed to help the less fortunate. Americans should help each other as a community which they used to do but now it is just easier to survive off the government. The money for these programs funded by the rich.

Half of my income goes towards taxes. Yes, I am one of the more fortunate. Yes, I have a nice house in the Caribbean which I have to sell because the sale of my house in the states fell thru and I cannot keep supporting both houses. I have a small profitable business in the states. I pay 100% of my employees medical, give my employees the profits of the company at the end of the year and generous vacation and sick time. I also pay for them to go to school. I haven't had a raise in 5 years though I give them all raises. In other words, I give back to my employees. My part of the community. I personally don't have any extra money to go around partly because I made the decision to live in the VI. The other reason is what extra money we do have goes to helping family and friends who need help. I support my mother and send money to my sister and two brother in laws and my father who are having problem due to poor health. I don't think I am special or better than anyone else for doing these things. I just do and act the way I think all people should.

When Lizard made a statement on this message board about how Americans have no compassion and trw saying he hates America and that the government should take care of us all it makes me feel so horrible and I wonder what has happen. It literally makes me sick. Two of my own children have this same mentality and I wonder did I really raise them. I gave my 24 year old son a hand up 2 years ago when he was having a hard time. Gave him a job, a free place to live and money to get out of debt. Instead of doing the right thing he took advantage. Didn't save his money, didn't pay off his debt, bought new cars, ect. When I went back to the states this time I found that he had "borrowed a great deal of money from my company without asking. The end result was I had to take what savings I did have and "bail" out my own company. No government money for me. I kicked him out of my house, took away is access to company funds and am now deducting from his paycheck to pay me back. He should have gone to jail. To say that he is angry is an understatement and his comment to me was that this was all my fault. He is right. I enabled and spoiled him to the point that he has no fiscal responsibility at all. I will weep over that one for a long time. I tried to explain to him that his father and I had always worked two jobs and did without to support all of our children and that now we had no retirement, were getting older and were raising another child. He told me that I had made those choices and it wasn't his problem. He didn't have to make those same choices.

So now that I have written a book here and no one really cares I will tell you that no more burden can be placed on me. If my taxes are raised and they will be I will have to lay off employees, move back to the states, build gauges myself, lower my income to the point that it only supports my little family and I won't worry about the 11 employees that I have to lay off because the government will support them off the backs of people like me for as long as they can keep their doors open. The really rich however. Don't worry about them. You know the ones making all the laws in DC. They know how to hide their money so as not to fund their own programs and their incomes won't drop because special interest groups are throwing money at them left and right.

Think what would have happened if our government had given us the people the trillions of dollars that have been spent in trying to bail out everyone. It's a no brainer to me.

Ok, I'm done.

Tammy,
Please read my post again.

The health care debate has revealed that Americans suffer from compassion deficiency. Many would prefer that our fellow citizens go without medical care rather than make even the slightest of sacrifice's. There have been many groans and crying of " I don't want to pay for someone else's visits to the doctor" President Obama insists that changes in our medical system will not require middle-Class tax hike. It is plain that many fear reform will cost them. They wear that statement " why should should I Pay" as a badge of honor. The pandemic of that attitude of that's not my problem is appalling. So the uninsured and the under insured will continue to have bake sales to help pay for the cost of medical care. Just for the record the Govt runs the largest health care system in the USA, it's called the VA.

I have spent more than half of my adult life in service to my country (USA) and it's Citizens. Please do not equate my statement that I hate this country or the citizens. Americans suffer from compassion deficiency (as observed in the health care debate) is not the same as Americans have no compassion.

Great post Tammy!

Lizard if you believe Obama's not going to raise the middle class taxes for healthcare I gotta bridge to sell ya. Every country that has universal healthcare has really high taxes. Where do you think the money's going to come from?

Betty,
Kinda jumping the gun "no". I have no need for a bridge. However maybe you can enlighten me on what health reform plan is going to be implemented, How it's going to be funded etc.

Lizard, I stand corrected on your post but I do see things a bit differently. I don't think most Americans have a compassion deficiency. I think they are overburdened. I am not sure what middle class is anymore because the figures have changed so often I cannot keep up. In my case however my company is a S corporation so I am personally taxed on the company's profits which puts me above middle class. I am now trying to restructure so that isn't the case. Giving my profits to my employees helps as well but not enough.

I used to be a Navy wife and don't feel that my government care was anywhere close to the care that my family and I get through our civilian doctors and private insurance. Nor did I care for the treatment that my father in law received after he retired. His care resulted in him losing his eye through negligence of his military doctors. This was was man who fought in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. My brother however is a retired vet and is thankful everyday for his government care. He never complains even though his wife had a very botched knee surgery.

I guess I just don't trust our government to do what it says it's going to do and as I continue to read and investigate the less I trust them. I do not watch or listen to the talking heads on TV or radio. I find out for myself and am not liking what I find out. I am all for an over hall with our current social programs which are criminally abused but not to create a new entity on the backs of the already overburdened middle class or the on the back of people whom the government deems the wealthy. The true wealthy will not be touched as they know how to hide their money. I wish everyone would quit watching TV and listening to the radio. Look at the background of all the government officials, see who funds their campaigns and what laws they pass. Read the bills yourself and look at what is tacked on that no one ever hears about. I have to tell you it is very frightening.

I also pay through the nose into social security. I love the letters that I get telling me how much I will receive upon my retirement. That is so I can plan my retirement and make sure I have adequate funds to exist. Well I'll not bank on that money being there 14 years from now when I can retire. That money is supporting the already retired and going bankrupt. How many more people should I personally be responsible for?

I am not a hate monger, a bubba, racist or deficient in compassion. I am a very proud American and I want the government to serve the people not rule the people.

People, please educate yourself and quit being sheep. I could get on the radio or TV all day long and tell you what I think but it is only what I think. Doesn't mean it's the truth.

Lizard, I have huge respect for you and thank you will all my heart for your service to our country. Bless you.

Lizard if I tell you, I seriously doubt you'll believe anything I say. Do your research. I mean really where do you think this money is going to come from? This is a massive undertaking, it will make the VA look tiny. There is no way he can not raise taxes to implement this. Politicians lie, do your homework.

Betty,
Not true, I agree with a lot of your posts. It's not that I wouldn't believe you , I just might have a different opinion. We at this time are at the very beginning of "true health reform" who knows where it is going to go. At this point in time it looks like it's going down hill to say the least. I also understand the old saying ( how can you tell when a politician is lying, his lips are moving)
