Trade,
I retired the name De Facto Honorary Mayor of Gallows Bay STX, some posters failed to see the humor in it ,didn't take it as a joke. I felt it was to silly to defend or explain, so I retired the position and title.LOL. How about you, are you still Queen of STT? I think I will call myself an "Older Carbon Unit " from now on!

dougtamjj,
Thank you for the compliment! Samson is doing good (he had a two and a half pound tumor removed from his stomach early December 2007). As this carbon unit gets older, I am getting scaly patches. Have a great day.

trw,
Have a great day!

Lack of a sense of humor will do you in here, won't it? I couldn't get a reserved parking spot so I won't use my title except on special occasions. Glad Samson is doing well.

Went to Betsy's at lunch where she was having a "Bizarre Bazaar" and ate lunch at Hook, Line & Sinker. Really windy & spitting rain today. Good cheeseburger.

just got home from work, busy tonight, brought a blackened snapper sand home with me for a snack later.KLJ555 did you ever find out what the race was? Bombi don't regret being here sooner, you're here now and thats what counts. Lots of military boys running around tonight drinkin,i met one of the attorneys from the states prosecuting the kapok thing,he was cool, has his mother and his son down here with him, she's around my mothers age and still insists on "the cocktail hour",i wish we had some more"grande dames" on this island, those old bags can be fun. I was 10 minutes late for work this afternoon because i pulled over on one of the lookouts between the lesbian house and gentle winds today to watch the water hit the rocks, that drive from gentle winds to carambola is truly one of the most beautiful pieces of scenery i've witnessed in my life, some days it takes your breath away with the overwhelming beauty of it all, oh well thursday night is movie night at 7:20 either mad money or one missed call.

I was just thinking that myself - the poor dude chained to his desk and envying them will be figuring out about now that these are not your usual young adults with work, children etc. If you are chained to yr job in the States, you will still be chained to yr job on Island.

and......."the lesbian house" ....not cool!

TRW and KLJ555,
The sailboat race is the round the island race. The boats spent the night in Frederiksted and will continue the race back to Chenay Bay today as I understand it. A great sight!

jane get off my thread, and it's always been known as the lesbian house whether lesbians live there or not like my house is known as the green house, the one down the road is the goat place even tho there has not been goats there for over 2 yrs, the pisser corner ,it's the way of defining landmarks here, and as a gay man trust me honey i need no input from you, you offer nothing and you do nothing.

i started this thread as a way to show a slice of daily life here on STX ,be it about how your day is going or the places we go to, or the frustrations of standing in line somewhere, it's about daily life here and observations, musings or just plain ramblings, i just don't care as long as politics are not involved.

I didn't get any answers to my question about Krewe de Barkus on the Community Board, so I am just going to head out to Christiansted and see for myself. I am going sans dogs, because my husband is in the "Round the St. Croix race, and I really don't want to handle 3 dogs on my own. I thought about taking Bentley (the newbie), but he's still a puppy and BIG. He hasn't been around crowds, plus I can't bring myself to take one and not the others. Then I'm off to the Yacht Club to meet the boats as they come in. I imagine there will be a party at the Yacht Club and then my poor wet, cold, achy back husband will be ready for a hot shower and a bowl of soup, followed closely by a long nap! Happy Sunday all.

The good thing about rain is the rainbow that comes out afterward. I can remember when I lived at Gentle Winds coming over the hill toward Cane Bay and seeing the rainbow over the water and hillside. What a spectacular site to see. The beauty of that area is like no other. So very awsome to behold.

My slice of life today. Off early to cost u less and then plaza extra. The shelves at both places were sparse on things I need to feed the incoming clan. I was hungry when I went so I spent too much money and was rushing to get back home to help mom with her personal needs as I left before she woke up. Came home to my son running around naked as usual and hubby still working on his honey do list. Put the groceries away. Checked the message board. My halo slipped and I sprouted horns. Wrote an ugly PM. Poured myself a rum and coke. Dressed the boy and now finishing up the house. I hope you all have a fine Sunday and a good night. If I haven't been kicked off the board for the PM, I'll check in tomorrow. Ending this post with, I love St. Croix and all my friends here.

Juanita - I'll have to meet my namesake puppy someday. lol

Yesterday on STX ... showed half a dozen rental properties to three different sets of prospective tenants, negotiated a purchase contract on a condo, assorted emails and phone calls, met with a distressed new tenant who wasn't able to get internet set up and brainstormed ideas to make it work, took a military flight crew out on the Searay to Coakley Bay to watch kite surfers and then onto Buck Island for a few hours on a sunset outing, dinner on the boardwalk with the military crew, back to spend the night on the Parrothead at Green Cay Marina.

Today on STX... Awoke to the sounds of my husband fixing a problem with the aft bilge pump... forwarded an accepted contract on a condo I have listed for sale back to the buyer... helped a tenant get internet access arranged... dealt with a few other business-type emails and phone calls... then the wind picked up and I went for my third kite surfing lesson, this time trying to add the board to the mix on two downwind runs from Cotton Valley to Pull Point. At first it was a disaster and then it improved and eventually there were a few really good runs. Now just drained physically and probably going to have a stiff neck tomorrow from a couple of face plants. Will be meeting with half a dozen kite-surfers this evening to plan our trip to Anegada on the Parrothead for the coming weekend then off to the Divi to have dinner with an Air Force C-17 flight crew who is here for the night, one of whom is a condo owner/landlord here on the island. Busy, busy, busy dawn to midnight, but with some fun thrown into the mix along with the work. Not a bad Sunday on a holiday weekend. Life is good.
