just finished reading a strange/good/violent book by john connolly called bad men that takes place on one of the islands in casco bay up in maine, oh and the yard guys came yesterday, they do such a great job and all my papaya seeds sprouted and the pineapple tops all have roots now, so thats my next project and my mango is blooming, you have no idea the amount of stress and pressure that has been lifted from my life since i left the 18mile job, income was cut back some but thats not important right now,i really need to just focus on the house and yard.

Okay trw, I'll need to look up the larger map of neighborhoods, I am still trying to familiarize myself with all of them.

Glad you are under less stress by cutting out the second job. The yard and home can definitely be a full time job by themselves!

Little Fountain is past Mon Bijou heading up the hill towards scenic road. If you are at the stop light with Woodson school on your left, make the right, travel past the new road work and continue up.

just read the source article about tourism in the territory and the fact that "sea, sun and sand" are no longer the only draw we need too encourage people to come here,i'm not sure i agree with that viewpoint for STX,the majority of stateside people i wait on come here to escape their hectic lives up there, they need to relax and almost all will tell you they come for the sea and the beach and just to get away from winter. the thing almost all of them agree on is the fact that they do not want to go through puerto rico to get here, they want a direct flight from new york and with all the upper east coast people we get here why is that so hard for the people in charge to figure out, maybe a thrice a week flight,it does'nt need to be everyday. The danish and other europeans are the ones that seem to want the culture tours, i wait on these people all day long and i ask "what do you want here and why did you choose STX". ok enough of that, the young woman i work with has now moved in with the Puerto rican guy and his cousin she's been hanging out with because her boyfriend won't pay her any attention and so i read her the riot act in my best TRW fashion lol

and on another note and i just have to get this one off my chest, there are 2 things that send me into an almost uncontrollable rage down here, the first is racist remarks from statesiders about locals and the second one is parents who do not pay child support. One of the young women i work with is from texas and is down here going to school and living with her boyfriend and trust me this woman is a pain in the butt on a good day, she thinks i'm immoral and a pervert because i'm a happy gay guy and on and on that i can deal with i've heard that most of my life and i have a thick skin about ignorance and stupidity and so that stuff just kind of amuses me that they care so much, so one day 2 of the ladies were mad at her for something and they were talking in "patois" and she was mad that they were talking about her in another language and she turned to me and said "look they're talking in monkey" well i mean that one offended even me and i guess my first thought was to run to HR and complain but then my second thought was to be really sweet to her and take her out to dinner and get her drunk and then take her and drop her off at one of the crack houses over in mon bijou and let those guys deal with her, lol well i was really conflicted over what to do so i did nothing and just said "missy watch your mouth, thats not nice" but i really wanted to drop her off in mon bijou and just be done with her, ok it's out and off my chest, the hate anger and rage i feel about racism is off my chest and trust me i'm not a crusader about anything,i don't have "liberal guilt" i just don't think it's right

way to go trw....
I feel that way, too and I have told my kids about the only thing I could imagine being ashamed of them for would be if they were prejudiced or racist.

Thank you Tamara. Mom is doing well and should be released in a couple of days.

Trw the only snow crabs we have around here are in the grocery store and we eat them. Yum. JJ is actually doing well probably because he has had to spend a lot of time at our shop and our shipping lady constantly gives him candy. It doesn't matter if I say no. She just gives me an evil look and slips him some more. He just loves Ms. Pat. She also lets him play in the packing peanuts and brings him all sorts of little toys and stickers every day. I give up. She's older than me and has raised 6 children to adulthood, 4 of whom are older than me, so I am going to back off. Besides that she scares me sometimes. I know I am the boss but sometimes I think she will just slap me if I say something she doesn't like. LOL. JJ has also picked up some "wonderful" new vocabulary from the guys in the shop. I told them for every new "word" that JJ comes home with that I will dock their pay $20 each no matter who said it. Nothing like a little peer pressure to keep them in line.

I am missing the island. One thing that constantly bothers me is that no one seems to make eye contact or greets anyone else. Today I greeted everyone I passed with good morning, afternoon or goodnight. Some responded some looked at me like I was crazy and some totally ignored me but I felt better. It bothers JJ as well. Because he has been in the VI most of his life he has grown up greeting everyone when we walk into the post office, Dr. office or anywhere we go so he does it here as well. When people don't respond he says, why don't those people talk back to us? I just tell him that they don't understand. So he tries harder thinking they don't understand him and what he is saying. I am proud that he has such good manners. He is not an angel. Just a little boy. But a good boy all the same.

Good night St. Croix, trw, trade, Lizard and everyone else.

Tammy

Ok, is it just me. I haven't been reading the message board for a while but it is just getting a little weird. I am not one to judge but well it's weird. Like I said I haven't read for a while and there were about 120 unread post by me and I read them all tonight. I kinda felt like I was in the twilight zone. do do do do. Maybe I need some more sleep. Good night all.

Hope your Mom continues to improve, Tam. Sounds like Ms. Pat has made JJ into another grandchild & grandmas are allowed to spoil. Yeah, it's a little "different" around here lately.

Nope, my DSL is working fine. I'm geting my emails from my old internet provider just fine. Only problem is I can't access my Innovative email that I signed up for (and don't have the other 4 I was supposed to get.) I should be able to but the site isn't recognizing my email address I requested or else the password is wrong.

Tammy--I hope your Mom is feeling better. Your JJ story reminded me of my niece when she was little. I lived in another state, so I would come home, shower her with presents, play with her, and have a great time. I'd then go home and my sister would have to endure stories of how fun Aunt Kim was. Meanwhile, she was the real hero, taking care of her day in and day out.

TRW--I can just imagine how disturbing your coworkers comments were. I used to work in HR. If she hasn't quit, I would recommend having a conversation with HR. In my experience, people like that just escalate the bad behavior and make everyone more and more miserable. I hope you enjoy your day off tomorrow. KJ

trw,
I've been following this forum for a couple of years now, and I do believe this is the longest thread I've seen yet. Others may have seen longer, but I doubt it. Thanks for starting it. I think it's probably a hugh help to anyone wanting to know about day to day life. Maybe when it gets to page 25, we can have a silver anniversary party!

Juanita it POURED here off and on all night and the power went out for about 10 minutes, but everything is now thouroughly soaked. KLJ555 i've discovered that people like her end up just leaving because they become to isolated by their rascist fears and just plain ignorance. My now dead birth father would never come here because he had an irrational hatred of any minority, he was one of those people that truly believed in white supremacy and all that crap and well now he's dead and the world is a better place, i thank the heavens that i was raised by my mother and stepdad. Today i'm thinning out the hundred or so papaya seeds i sprouted and narrowing it down to 30 plants and cleaning my oven.
