ok here's a kinderdarten story for JJ, i was in kinder in 66 or 67 in blue earth minnesota and my teacher was Ms.Tarnowski(Ms. not Miss) lol oh the 60's,she later became Mrs. Jan Willete buts thats another story, anyway she had come out of the peace corp and went into teaching and my memories of her are of her playing her guitar and singing 500 miles away from home and leaving on a jet plane,i'm not sure if they're the same song or not, that i can't remember,i also remember she had an aquarium full of meal worms and we took turns feeding them all bran, and then i remember naptime and the green and white braided rug that i had to lay upon, she's one of the few teachers i remember, she taught me how to go to the library across the street from the school.

Ok, I am going with the thought rats, I mean bats, do not have rabies here. I feel a tiny bit better. We do not have a pool but BF made a net out of some material we found and a wire hangar duct taped to a paint pole. It was eso ffective at catching that dead bat, lol, that I'm keeping it handy in the hall closet. But now I am second guessing leaving the doors open all day!

Enjoyed the beach at Cottages yesterday weather was perfect and we had the beach completely to ourselves. Tammy, I saw the biggest crab ever. Every time I see a crab I think of JJ.

Today was a telecommute day for me, catching up on what I have missed Monday & Tuesday. BF doing manual labor in the guest cottage which involved removal of a toilet . . . "sorry honey, I really have to work, big proposal I need to get out today" 😉 No way am I walking in there until he's done!

No gates needed here . . . a regular car just isn't going to make it up the hill with the condition of the road. I have to rent a pickup every time I am here. Who would be responsible for our neighborhood roads anyway? My guess is since there are so few homes up here we probably do not even make the "list" if there is a "list".

Bats eat a LOT of insects, like mosquitoes.

HEY stanford, mosler, brandt or any of the other gazillionaires or their employees here on STX,the animal shelter is broke!!!!!!!!! would you please send them some cash so that they can continue operating, you as well as everyone else knows that our government is going through a major financial crisis and cleanup right now and so money is tight, and while it's great that you sponsor the music at the whim series,it's rather elitist, now don't get me wrong i love the music when i have a chance to attend, but i think the animal shelter crisis is probally more important. Thank you in advance for your cash. Troy

Trade . . . thank God for that! I am sure they must have good purposes because they really are freakin' ugly!

Does anyone know if my oranges and tangerines will ever actually turn orange? Maybe the bats are grabbing the riupe ones before I ever get to see them????

Roadrunner, we are not far from MVC so I can imagine the sounds there with the open air structures are probably scary exciting. It's funny how the sounds change through the day, pre-dawn can get loud, then it's very eerily during the day (except the the downhill neighbor's dog) and then the chorus starts up again at sun down, which is not that long from now.

Trw, I am with you on the cool showers, not so bad after you get wet. We turned off the water heater last trip and my only complaint was one night I just felt like taking a bubble bath . . . not so enjoyable in cold water!

and bats come out at dusk so no worries about leaving the doors open during the day,if you have a pool on your property it's kinda cool to watch them do fly bys and drink

um conch is out of season right now,so if you got it fresh here it was more than likely poached, and there are about 6 pizza places here my 2 personal favorites are off the wall and the lost dog

no poachers involved . . . found it frozen at Plaza which surprised me actually. now that I think of it i am not sure he's ever made it from previously frozen conch. hope it's still good. when is conch back in season?

i do love the pizza at lost dog, we go there every trip. I go for the hawaiian pie . . . pineapples on pizza is Heaven. last time we went there was some stinking freak outside screaming all kinds of nasty crap, scary because we had my nephew with us. we did not want to take any chances so we drove away but then went back after meeting up with a cop who agreed to check it out. he stopped his ranting so we went in and once inside we could not hear him anyway and just enjoyed our pizza. nephew loved it and especially loved learning the drinking age is just 18 here (he's 17) who knew? i tell him he inherits the house, only catch is he has to take care of me when i'm old and mean. too funny since he still has to say i'm in my 20's or i cut him off of Christmas gifts. i miss him being here this trip, i miss his guitar hero too . . . i got pretty good on it.

do you like off the wall better than lost dog?

not a fair question lol i like them the same,i really like the white pizza's you can get at the dog,i guess i like them the same, been a couple of years since i've been to the dog though in all honesty, but for a few years we did dog pizza almost every sunday,i really don't enjoy going out at night anymore unless it's for work, lol i like my house, and with off the wall is about a mile away, it's convenient and they've figured out how i want my pizza,i have a special fondness for the dog for the 3 years i worked nights in f'sted there were so many nights that we sat there and partied until 3 or 4,5 or 6 in the am with all the bar and restaurant people from the area, they'd close the doors at about 2 and then we'd just party and play foosball and the jukebox, the husband of one of the women on this board was one of the people that would hang and i don;yt know it was just a great time because we all knew each other, thats what i really like about the statesiders/locals over in f'sted, the strong sense of "family" once you've been there for awhile.

Anyone ever eat at Chocolate's over around the Princesse area? My husband LOVES barbeque and every time we drive by that place he wonders out loud if it's any good. I'm almost hoping it's not since I'm not as big a fan! We'll have to try the sandwiches at Quality-- I've heard several people recommend them. This last trip we got hung up on the sandwiches at Turtles deli and the whole west end. We were staying on the east end but found ourselves driving out to the west end for those sandwiches, the beach, the ride up the road on the west side of the island and the rainforest. So peaceful and lush in there.

I can understand why you'd like the security, but I really hope no gating in the areas you mentioned! We love to drive around the island, and I promise you, we're harmless!

So trw before I went to the states hubby and I were driving out by where you live and we were going up the road across from off the wall and we were seeing signs every few feet saying private property no tresspassing. Hubby kept driving and I am saying turn around and he is saying it is a public road and I am saying drug dealers live here and they don't want us driving up the road. Daughter is in the back seat saying I have motion sickness please turn around and I am saying turn around or me and JJ are getting out because I do not want to get shot. He finally turns around and I know he will go back later on his motorcycle so I am glad that I have a life insurance policy on him because he does things like that. When I was a child I lived in Tennessee in the mountains and there were certain places you did not go because the men made moonshine and they would shoot you if you came upon a still so that was the same feeling I had. All these signs were handmade and I am thinking I just didn't want to go there. Trw, did you make those signs? Silly man, if you did you scared me for nothing.

I remember my kindergarten teacher very well not because she taught me anything but because she liked to paddle me. I was 30 pounds soaking wet and wore size 3 clothes and was so tiny that my feet would not touch the floor even with the smallest desk. For some reason my teacher hated me. She hated me because I could already read, because I sucked my thumb, because I could write with both hands. I never told my mother of the daily paddlings I received and I hid my bruises from her. I was afraid that she would be mad at me because I was bad. My saving grace was a wonderful principle who thought I was adorable. When my teacher could not make me cry when she hit me started sending me to the principles office every day to get whipped. He would sit me on his desk and feed me fudgesicles and tell me to pretend cry when I went back to class. Hey moms everywhere, you give your children to strangers 8 hours a day. Get involved. Know your kids teachers. Ok, we all know how I feel about that.

My daughter in law told me today that I have pnuemonia. She is not here on island so I don't know. She is a nurse and said I didn't sound good on the phone and ask me how I was feeling. I told her my symtoms and she told me to go to the ER. No way been there done that. So can anyone recommend a doctor. I don't go to doctors so that explains why I have been here over two years and haven't found one. I do take JJ to the doctor and he is very good but I don't think he sees adults.

So today has been a good day except I didn't get the tiller out of the container for trw. Sorry. And I feel so very tired. I think because I was in the states for 3 weeks and there was no humidity that the weather is zapping me here and I have a terrible cold. I think I just need a swim in the ocean.

Good night all

Tam

hey tammy those 3 roads going up the hill by off the wall are for the most part white people houses and the signs are put there to keep stevens horses out, there was some uppity white woman up there awhile back that pitched 12 different fits because of stevens horses, the signs first read no horses allowed and then they turned into private road signs, cane bay itself is basically a white suburb, lavallee is local, rust op twist is back to white more or less, belevedere is mainly white as is willies wish and all the way over to carambola beach and over the hill to the golf resort,so basically the entire area from salt river to carambola golf is mainly white except for my neighborhood lavallee which is mainly black and real crucian, and i am not implying anything to anyone just stating a fact as i see it.

and now for the disclaimer from the TRW, if you've read me over the past few months you know that i am a firm believer and practicer of skewing "sacred cow" subjects and i do it with all races, sexes and orientations,i truly do love to poke sticks in cages and will continue to do so,thank you and good night, lol i have to squeeze the oranges at 7am and then feed the beautiful people at 4:30pm so long day tomorrow, the day job fulfills the farmer kid that still lives in me and the night job satisfies the urban gay guy in me,good balance
