I feel your pain Cheryl. I wish I would have met you and hubby while you were here. I could use a haircut. I am walking around looking a bit unkept. I am sorry that you have to leave and when you come back please let us know.

Thanks for sharing your adventures. 🙂 Maybe someone with renal failure (they don't pee) and a colostomy bag (no poo) would like to rent your toilet-less place. 🙂 Or maybe you'll get it sorted out next time!

A lot of people in New Orleans kept their houses plywood-ed up for the hurricane season, and it never seemed to cause much of a problem.

If Frank does put out his tip jar on the beach, you can bet I'll be there for a trim! I was so desperate to get my hair trimmed this week, before I leave for the Caribbean for a month (sadly, not STX, and it's work-related), that I jumped at my stylist's offer to come to my house when she called to report that the power was out at the salon. As for Frank's business venture.... fishy hands and a swift ocean breeze might not make for gorgeous hair, but you take what you can get!

Enjoy your pizza and have a safe flight home!

Tammy, dunno if you know this or not..but Natalie one of the owners of Bacchus in town, cuts hair. They closed the restaurant for a month last week and she said she will be cutting hair at Monique's up in east by the pink condos..

Disclaimer: I have never seen her cut...I am merely passing along some info. So if you come out looking like Edward Scissorhand did it, don't come after me.

Yearasta, it can't be worse then the constant ponytail. I really need something that works on the island. I have very straight hair. The humidity makes it completely flat. The only thing I know to do is a ponytail. I don't know. Fifty years old with a ponytail. Not so great.

Probably got in an argument with his partner who had him arrested. No reason to speculate until we hear from the horse's mouth.

Spent the entire day scrubbing down our cottage as people on a PMV are coming late tonight. I hope they can find the place as they are taking a cab. I kinda feel like they expected us to pick them up. They are friends of my husbands brother. In anycase, way out here in Cotton Valley I would have rented a car. They are not coming in until 11:30 PM. Poor guys, the weather is going to be horrible and they are only going to be here for 4 days.

When I picked JJ up from school his teacher told me that he had a rough day. I didn't know what that meant so I said was he sick. She said no that he had to sit in time out. I ask her what I needed to talk to him about. She said to calm down and follow directions. Then she told me that they started math today and he did great. When we got into the truck I ask him were you bad. He said no. I said did you sit in time out, he said no. I said did you do good with your numbers and he said yes. I told him I was proud of him. He then ask for candy as we were stopping at a store and I told him no, not until you tell me about time out. He said, OK Ok, we were playing a game and I played it wrong. I ask if he hit someone or was rude and he said no. I went the wrong way. I still don't know what that means. Hopefully I will find out tomorrow.

Daughter #3 wants me to come back to the states because she is having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions and she is 7 1/2 months pregnant. Hubby doesn't want me to take JJ out of school and says that they will be fine and will come after the baby is born. I don't want to be away from JJ. I have visions of chocolate cake in his lunch box and him taking lizards to school in his pockets. I cannot even think of what hubby will put on him to wear as I pick out both of their clothes. Not to mention the thought of him deciding to go out and explore the bush while hubby is working. I really cannot take my eyes off him as he is fearless and thinks he is Steve Irwin. I do have to give him credit however. Last time we went to the crab races he came and told me some of the other kids were making bad decisions. They were all in the ocean. Parents had no clue. What to do?

Trw, I am sending big hugs. I hope you are ok my friend.

Lots of on and off rain here in Cotton Valley. I am worried a bit by the storm Josephine. Ike will bring us lots of rain, wind and rough seas. I bet bigbeards will still take people to Buck Island anyway. They really don't care about rough seas. Just the dollar. I am thinking of you Trade as lightning is streaking across the sky and the thunder is booming here on STX. I know you don't like the storms so I hope they miss you and you just get a little rain.

Good night all.

Tam

Hi Tammy,

If it's any help to you, my daughter had Braxton Hicks starting last fall until she had the baby in late February--- for about 4 months. She hung in there, taught school even, and had a healthy VERY cute ( grandma here!) baby. She also had to deal with an active 2 year old. I live 5 and 1/2 hours from her and wasn't able to help her. I did go stay for 5 weeks after the baby was born. It's hard to know just what to do when you don't live near. I agree with your not wanting to take J.J. out of school-- especially since it's all so new to him. I taught school and know how the first couple of months are an adjusting period. Sounds like JJ just needs to get used to his teacher's rules and the whole school routine. I'm another one who LOVES your J.J. stories by the way! Good luck with whatever you decide.

Paula

Oh, give JJ some candy. 🙂 There's a rainbow just outside my bedroom deck. Red sky this AM. "Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky in morning, sailors take warning." Luckily made it home from work yesterday before all hell broke loose. Rain blowing in from the south. Per the weather guy, we'll have a small break before we get some more this weekend. And now the rainbow disappeared.

Trade did you guys get that monster storm last night. It was about 11 PM and I have never seen such a storm here on the island.

Paula I had the Braxton Hicks contraction through all my pregnancies. With the last two I thought I was still having them when I was in real labor. Almost didn't make it to the hospital.

I was asleep by 11:00 but it sure was blowing rain all evening from about 5:00 onward. Not a whole lot of lightning by then so I guess you got more of that unless I slept through it. A lot of wind & rain, though. Still beats any hurricane.

We have a new addition to the family. Charley the hamster. We went to the feed and seed to get dog food and Charley was in a cage with his mother who was beating him up. I guess that is the way mother hamster ween their young. We decided to bring him home for JJ. Hubby bought him all these cool running things and a very nice cage. JJ and Charley were a bit nervous with each other at first but now they are best friends. JJ did not want to go to school today and leave Charley at home. I suspect in the near future he will try to sneak Charley to school in his pocket or lunch box.

Some observations about hamsters. They stay up all night running and exercising. They poop a lot.

Keep the wheels in his cage well-oiled. Squeak, squeak, squeak.

Good Morning all.

Update on the well drilling progress. There is no progress. We call the guy when we returned to the island 2 weeks ago and he said he would be by. Haven't seen him yet.

Our guests in the cottage doing a PMV seem to think that their rental extends to my house and have on 4 different occasions come right on in to swim in my pool and make themselves at home.

JJ won twice at the crab races last night and had great fun running around with his friends. We put glow lights on the kids when it gets dark so we can see them at all times without constantly jumping up or making them stay right by our side. It is so cool to watch the kids climb trees and play games that we played as children. I am also impressed that the older kids are so tolerant and kind to the younger ones. A very nice mommy invited me to join her and other 2 other ladies to their ladies night out once a week. I have known them a couple of months and was delighted at the invitations. I have been here over 2 years and none of the other moms have ever invited me to join any of their activities. I thought this was because I am an older mother and they felt uncomfortable having me around. The ladies who invited me out are 2 cruzian ladies and a young woman from Brazil. Interesting. Maybe we are like minded on how we raise our children. Who knows. In any case I was very happy to be invited.

Charley the hamster spent the night in another room. Even though nothing in his cage is squeaking or making noise I could still hear him scurrying around and it gave me the creeps.

I had nightmares last night that my daughter went into labor early and I was at the airport yelling my baby is having a baby I will pay you to give up your seat and everyone was ignoring me. Meanwhile in my dream my oldest daughter was calling me saying hurry she is crying for you. I just hate being the mother of adult children. When does it stop? It's not her either. This is my very independent daughter who has traveled and danced all over the world by herself. She just wants me there when her child is born. I really need to get a grip.

Have a great day everyone.

Tam

Strange deja vu . . . I am in Baltimore now looking out the living room windows watching Hanna do her thing. Just a few days ago I watched Hanna drench the rain forest ,which I think grew 3 feet in two days, and she certainly topped off our cisterns! Now Hanna is washing city streets.

What a beautiful day!!

We took our dog for a nice long walk and then headed over to Chenay to help out with the Animal Shelter's Doggie Wash. Lots of fun to see so many people turn out for it - hopefully people are still showing up since it runs until 5pm. Then we got in a little snorkeling near Tamarind - we saw lobster and an octopus and lots of fish. Now it's time for a little lunch and maybe a nap before heading down to Parrots Cove tonight to see Paulie do his Elvis show. Can't wait!!

I hope Paul did well with the Elvis show. We went to Chicken Charlies to hear Kent, Ian, Glen and the guy singing. I forgot his name but they all did a great job and we had a good time. JJ was a trooper. It was very hot with no breeze and he was ready to go home as soon as we got there but he hung in there and us adults had a very good time. Good friends, good music, not so great food this time but a very fun night.
