I am an elementary teacher and I was hoping to visit some of the public schools while on my visit in November. My husband and I (Brooksroberts) will only be visiting for a week - so it would be really helpful if ya'll could give me some tips about which schools to visit.... some may be better than others??? or any information about the schools would be a big help...

Thanks

PS I love this message board! I read it every day and have found out a lot of great information from reading all the posts. Everyone is so nice and helpful.

Hello Jenny,

You can find a lists of schools on St. Croix at https://vimovingcenter.com/schools/stcroix.php

I don't know which, if any, have a better reputation among the public schools. Hopefully someone else will share some information on that.

Hello Roberts and Roberts 🙂

My kids go to Peace Corps School in Mandahl. I vote for that one to visit. The principal did not give me a favorable impression, but overall the school is great. By reputation, the Sibily school is a favorite. I have not been, but many statesiders send their kids there. I am moving again, so I have to see if my kids should go to a different public school that will be closer. I am going to check out Lockhart Elementary. It is in Estate Thomas near Havensight where my husband and I both work during the day. That is all I recommend for elementary based on my experiences. I really don't know much about the rest.

You might check, but I believe if you teach, you get assigned to a school, so you might visit any one to get a general idea.

I am considering relocating to the island. Iwould like to know how to find out about job openings. Iam looking for a teacher assistant or lateral entry teacher in k-3 grades. I could surely use some help finding out contact information. Thank you !

Silly me. The schools I mentioned are on STT. Sorry. I am not familiar with the STX schools.

Thanks for the replies. Are the schools going to be open the week of Thanksgiving?
