I have lived on both and I love STX for these reasons:

QUIET

Less traffic

uncrowded beaches - pretty much all the time

More untouched land to explore

Better diving!

Cheaper....by a long shot.

Uncrowded towns....I don't like shoulder-to-shoulder or bumper-to-bumper....If I liked that, I would live in NYC.

Land and rent is cheaper....again, by a long shot.

Just my 2 cents....I'm sure STT people feel the same about their island...

If STX were just 20 miles closer......oh, the possibilities!!!!!

Big Hugs~

Alix

Most people really like one or the other. Your best bet is to come down and visit both.

If you have to ask that question. Move to STT.

AARON - Eloborate Please!

Alix I do like cheaper and yes it might be nice if the two islands were about 20 miles closer. I only know STT from a Vacation perspective. I have beeen their about 5 times during the summers, and I had a great! time. I know however that life is different when you are just passing through and you have to do the nine to five in the same place. It is interesting what people like or dislike in both places. I got got to make my mind up in the next few months moving from STX to STT. Really appreciate the feedback from you guys.

St.Croix can never compete with St.thomas. There are too many predjudices againts St.Croix from the govornment. The only time the govornvent throws us a bone is when St.Thomas has too many bones. St.Croix is like the red headded step child of the USVI. The only time that the govornment associates with St.Croix is if they need something like tax money from Hovensa of the Rum factory. Thus St.Thomas is more like the USA in the sence that they have more money circulating arround. If you like your creature comforts like people who are not disgrunteled, move to St.Thomas. You asked me to elaborate. I hope that this helps you make your decision. I would not blame you for jump on the band wagon of the people who like money and power. Most people do. People who move to St.Croix have to have a sence of adventure without security. I live on St.Croix and would never move to St. Thomas. Money is not the most important thing to me. My next move will either be to Dominica or the Dominican republic. That certainly is not any where in my near future though. The people realy seem real in those places. Money doesnt rule them like it does some on St.Thomas. I hope that nobody jumps my ass for telling what I think. Believe me. I could go on for a long time about this subject.

The islands are very different. Please spend time on each before you decide. What suits me may drive you crazy and vice versa. Both islands have pluses and minuses.

Good luck.

Yes I have been to both places that metion in my previous post and many other Caribbean Islands. Dominica is like a giant beautiful garden. The people are very friendly. I was in Dominica for their Independence celebration a year ago. That is November 4th. I stayed at Peppers Cottage in down town Potters Vill, witch is a suberb of the capital of Rouso. The cool thing about independence day on Domunica is that the day after the fourth most people pitch in for a day of community service. I patched the roads of Potters street. It was an experience that I will never forget. I have made life long friends on Dominica because of my working vacation. Like Jimmy Buffett said " A working vacation in a third world nation". Peace and Love to all.

Thanks for sharing. I am becoming good friends with a women from Dominica. She invited me to the independence day celebration activities that were held here in St. Croix. I hope that I get to visit someday soon. It sounds like it is a wonderful and beautiful place. I asked the question about the STT vs STX becuase it was STT that drew me to the VI. I hear the negative and positive about both islands as well as everywhere else in the world including the good USA. I guess its a matter of what I can live with and what I can live with out.

No. No regrets at all. BUT it is different for each person. we are older (50 ish) and just wanted a good real estate value an dquiet life style. Our kids visited and while our daughter loved the island, she said it was way too quiet for her to live here. so, it all depends on what your looking for.
I agree with all Alix's likes of the island.
You need to try on both and see which fits you better.
