Just wanted to let everyone know how compassionate Doctor House and his staff are.

We had a very emaciated dog that was in the area of salt river yesterday. I was coming home from the grocery store when I noticed him down by the beach.
I couldn't believe my eyes, this dog was the worst case of abuse I have ever seen. This poor baby could barely walk due to starvation. It would collapse every few steps. So sad.

The animal shelter is closed on Mondays so I called a few vets in the area. Island animal clinic said they would help me put the dog out of it's pain. They had to put the dog down right where it laid. So heartbreaking. It was a young male less then a year old.

Thank you to Dr. House, you are an amazing person. You took the time out to help this poor dog.

I highly recommend Dr. House and his amazing staff.

Thanks again for showing this dog compassion at the end.

I did drop by there office today, to deliver them some awesome cookies from the Bistro, as my way of saying Thank You!

Seriously not sure that is a good story if the animal could have been fed properly to regain weight and been rehomed instead of euthanized. Truly tragic.

Oh, I skimmed and thought they made it through. Sorry to hear that. My last resort is always Rainbow. But I don't know any of the circumstances.

Alana33, seriously, do you think the vet or I would of put the dog down if it could of been fed, and bought back to good health. That's why I called the vet to help him, I knew he wouldn't make it another day or maybe 2. Why let it lay there and suffer? He wasn't alone when he passed, and he was being comforted by Dr. House's assistant, and me and my neighbor crying in the background.

The vet said it was one of the worst cases of abuse they had ever seen.

This dog was beyond skinny, it had no hair left on it's body, the dogs skin was nothing but red sores that were oozing. It's eyes were oozing. It wouldn't lift his head to eat, it just laid there half dead. If you seen this dog you knew it couldn't be saved. I can't stop thinking about how horribly abused this poor dog was. It was dropped off by someone, it wasn't living around our area. Me and my neighbors would of seen him. Someone dropped him off like that. They didn't want it to die in there yard.

This is a good story, filled with compassion for this poor dog. He needed to be put out of his misery. I was glad Dr. House and I were able to help him.

It's also a good story of a man who went out of his way to help this poor dog. Not too many people would of done what he did.

I agree, a person that goes out of his way should be commended.

Is Island Animal Clinic your regular vet?

If that is the case margaritagirl then yes, it was absolutely was necessary and I commend you, the Vet and others who helped this poor unfortunate animal and putting it out of its misery.

It is so sad how tragically so many of our island's animals are treated and how little help from law enforcement agencies our Animal Cruelty Laws actually get to be enforced and those responsible for such cruelty ever punished.
