My first thought was, "when pigs fly" as to his moving out of his pricy digs but guess we'll see if just rumor or not on both subjects.

I heard an oddly shaped craft landed on Little Hans Lollick off St Thomas last night amidst a huge but short blast of purple light and that some fishermen said they saw some strange scaled creatures with bulbous snouts and protruding red eyeballs swimming offshore shortly thereafter. Any truth to these rumors?

Take it for what it's worth, given the source

Great, just demolish historically significant Catherinberg and build a "suitable"modern edifice ...

And, assuming the reporter is quoting him verbatim, maybe the government could also pay for him to attend remedial grammar classes and throw in some extra to allow the Consortium staff similar access.

Haha. I did scratch my head when I read this:

“I own my own home of which I’ve owned from 2001".

Was that a quote from Popeye or the Governor?

I am what I am.

I liked this one:

"I want to be very, very clear. I got elected and my priorities have nothing to do really with where I live and accommodations provided by the government." — Governor Kenneth Mapp

Except that we taxpayers are footing the bill for an extraordinary amount for a rental for a single guy for a place to live to satisfy his present choice of lifestyle. Oh almost forgot about housing those much needed and necessary bodyguards. Gimme a break!

Monarch Mapp rules.

One could build a very nice home on the rental amount he'll spend over the course of his term.

Wonder who is actually footing the bill for his Cokley Bay (SP) condo?

He's had it for a long while. When the property was being totally (almost) rebuilt ---might have been after Marilyn, it was not right after Hugo--He told the contractors that he wanted special things done to his condo, different than what was being done in all the rest, and he wanted the association to foot the bill. He said since he was LT GOV, they should just do it, and repair his unit first before anyone else's. They ignored him, and told the assn. of his demands..

Such a sense of entitlement that it just blows one's mind.
He must be drinking Old Tart' s belladona tea (only kidding about it being OT's tea) to have such delusions/hallucinations of grandeur.

Maybe I really should make up a batch and have a "wee spot of tea" delivered to him as it may have a counteractive effect. 😀

I guess I'm just amazed that people are still amazed that politicians are self serving hypocrites? This really isn't new behavior..

Maybe I'm amazed that you would make such an assumption about "people". But I see your point in a back-handed way! Of course it's nothing new - Mapp had a great mentor when it came to extravagance and ostentatious pomp.

I lost my voter registration card... In the garbage can. As long as most people are content with their crumbs nothing will change. Get a hold of me when the pitchforks and lanterns are amassing.

He's the same guy who told the first class flight attendant on an American airlines flight I was on not to call him "Mr Mapp", that she HAD to address him as Lt Governor...
I expect the next 4 years to be pretty disgusting

I fear that when it comes time for pitchforks and lanterns the powers that be will ensure they are misdirected toward the not born here, law abiding, tax paying, business owners, gainfully employed, retirees, and home owners. But there is certainly enough apathy to reduce that risk to an infinitesimally small statistical anomaly.
