The US Virgin Islands tourism board is on the Today show right now promoting the island.

I don't watch a lot of TV, but I've seen several national spots for the VI.
Last June, I presented a paper in Hong Kong on my research on forecasting tourism under highly uncertain circumstances. One finding of my research seems obvious: If you promote tourism, they will come. If you don't, they won't.
Even small investments in promoting tourism pay substantial dividends.

I totally agree! I have also been seeing quite a few vacation packages to the USVI promoted on the Price is Right lately.
Edward, I live about 10 minutes from the Field of Dreams. "If you build it, they will come".

Don't know much about the other accomplishments of DeJongh, but he and the Director of Tourism have done a GREAT job of promoting the USVI.
