My boyfriend is planning to get a job at Mafolie Hotel and Restaurant because he already has a friend who has made the move and is working there. My question is about the tourism jobs and if they are affected when the tourism season is over. Also, is the Mafolie a fairly popular hotel, and when exactly are the tourist seasons?

I am looking into the Mafolie as well for a back of the house position. Do you know names of people there to talk to about a job opportunity? I am not moving right away, but soon. I would appreciate any information you could give me on contact information there besides what is on their website.
Thanks,
MIKE

My boyfriend works at the Mafolie and the off peak season is definitely slow for the service industry. Great food, great people....I stayed at the hotel on my vacation back in March and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about the hotel. From what I've been told the tourist season runs generally from Nov-April.

Mike-If you want to speak with the owner of the Mafolie his name is Mike. You should call the hotel # on their website since he usually works in the office as well. Hope this helps.

Had lunch atthe Delly Deck the other day. It was crowded. I asked how buusiness was. Pne of the waitresses said' season over, who said season was over?' Seems we are having a great summer season as well!

Ronnie,
We are finding the same thing. Most years our charter boats are done by June 15 and then out of here in early July to avoid weather. This year more and more of the boats are busy through July. I had several calls last week for charters in the first week of August so our season is definitely lasting longer this year.

We seem to busy on STX too! Maybe it's the start of a TREND. We sure hope so.
