Transporting my dog

We are relocating to STT on August 13. I have an 80lb sheppard malamut mix. I've read through the forum posts about getting my dog to STT. Most of them were older or applied to STX. Can anyone recommend a company that they have recently used for transporting their animals? We live in Wilmington NC but we can deliver him to a kennel in Florida if needed. Thanks in advance!

A company to transport your dog?

I think most people transport themselves through the airline they are travelling on.
Heat restrictions in mid August will be a challenge.
Some hire a private plane but that's pretty pricy.

It is expensive.
There were some posts not too long ago about people wanting to share a charter to get their animals to the VI.
You might inquire with the transport company if they have people looking to share expenses.

This site has a share inquiry page.

True Any chance of transporting your dog on a commercial flight in August is close to nil. Unless you can spring for a private or share charter you may have to consider leaving him/her with friends or family until the temperatures drop and then make a trip back - or delay your own plans.

OP wasn't asking about commercial flights.

I talked to the airline and I decided it would be too big of a chance to try and roll the dice with an early morning flight. Especially since there will be 4 of us, plus the puppy, flying down there.

I can't reschedule my move because I'm relocating for work. I need to move during the summer months because my kids are out of school.

I will look into the go2charters stuff. Thanks for the input! See you all in a few weeks!

Here's another private transport company for pets.
Local area code.

I think United Airlines has a less restrictive pet policy.

He's not looking for a commercial airline as he has to transport a large dog, in August, which no airlines will do because of heat restrictions unless it's a private company.

The main charter company on St. Croix can fly you and your dogs to St. Thomas but it is costly. If you can get a one way flight with them, that cuts the cost almost in half. We flew them and it was great!

Wojo, check this link:
There are a couple people looking to transport their dogs in August.
You might be able to share with them. You can private message them.
They posted on the Travel Forum.
