I'm planning to relocate to St. Thomas. I hear that it is smart to have an SUV. Is that necessarily true? I can tell obviously that the VI are very hilly, but are there many roads that are unpaved? I would have to sell my sedan and buy an SUV, so I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle. Also, would it be best to buy an SUV ahead of time, or should I wait until I relocate? Thanks very much in advance for any replies.

An Suv really isn't necessary. Sure, it's nice for the occasional rough dirt road, but plenty of people have cars and they do just fine.
