Anyone have a feel (roughly) for how long it takes to ship packages, standard delivery from the states to St. John via USPS? I'll be sending stuff from the Washington, DC area.

I am trying to figure out how far in advance of my move I should start mailing stuff to my address down there.

Thanks!!

My husband and I moved his parents from Dubuque Iowa to St. Thomas this past January. We shipped everything USPS. They will tell you 6 weeks, but most of the stuff came within 4 weeks. We even shipped he elecrtic scooter. We were quite surprised that all of the parts arrived a week ahead of some other household items we had sent a few days earlier. I would recommend that you inventory each box, number it (the same way professional shippers do) before you take it to the post office. Try to ship books, tapes and CD's separately. It can save you money.
