Hi all,

I have to go to the V.I. Superior Court on St. Thomas for a business trip. All I know it's in the Alexander A. Farrelly Justice Center and it's on Veteran's Drive. I have a very rough STT map which only lables general areas (how come I cannot find a decent street map on either google map or mapquest?).

Anyway, I would appreciate it if anyone can inform me where exactly is the courthouse and recommend some hotels nearby, or at least point me to the areas where I should be looking for one. I'd prefer a mid-range hotel that's close by and in a safe neighborhood.

Thanks for your assistance.

C.

The Justice Center is located in downtown Charlotte Amalie, near Fort Christian. When you arrive you will see how it easy it is to access. Parking is in the Fort Christian parking lot directly across the street. FYI_You can pick up a good area map at teh airport when you de-plane.

As far as hotels in proximity...Hotel 1829 is within walking distance and smakc-dab in the middle of town. Mafolie is up the hill (you must drive) and has one of the best views on the island. If this is a business trip, however, I would recommend the Marriott Frenchman's Reef. You still have to drive to downtown, but the property is very nice and safe and their rates should be reasonable (it's the off-season).

If you are an attorney and this is a law-oriented bus. trip, feel free to PM with any questions (I am an attorney).

Good luck.

Dear Onika,
I am a retired Attorney and interested in working in an office in St. Thomas as a paralegal or whatever to make some living expenses. I will be arriving in St. Thomas on 8/31/05 and staying at the Point Pleasant Resort for a month. Could I please come talk to you for some local advice? I need all the help I can get. If this works out, my wife and I plan to relocate there on a permanent basis. Thank you for any informtion you can give me, starting with your office phone and address. Can I access my email through the local phone service? David

I am a recent law grad considering a posistion in St. Thomas. What is the legal community like in the USVI? How does the VI Superior Court differ from a mainland trial court? I saw the article from several years ago in the VI Daily News (the Pullizter Prize one), and it sounded like a mess! Have things improved since then?
