On another post I read that someone used a local agent to handle the registration process with their vehicle. Is this a service that is actually available? If someone has any information about such a service, I would appreciate having it passed along.

Captain, have you registered a car in the states? If you did it there you can do it in the VI. It may be a bit more frustrating running back and forth but IMHO it's not worth paying someone to do it for you.

Motor vehicle registration is very fast an efficient thee days. You might experience a delay the first time you come in as a newbie, but once you understand how it works, its takes no time at all.

Thanks for the feedback. The process doesn't seem to difficult. Follow the steps, in the right order, a little patience and flexible expectations. The previous post read something like paying an agent $150 and it's all done for you. A move of this nature will be fraught with challenging and frustrating tasks. Any I can pass off to reduce the frustration may be worth the cost.

To look at it from another viewpoint, doing these sorts of things yourself for a while is good experience in learning to deal with the little frustrations of island living in general.

St. Thomas has people and services that will pick up your paperwork from shipper and handle all the steps with getting it cleared and registered but don't know about STX. Surely someone there has a similar service.
