Hi! I have verizon wireless national calling plan and I was first wondering if verizon got service in St. Thomas and also if you have free calling to and from anywhere in the U.S. are you charged when making and receiving calls while in St. Thomas? I'm moving down next week and wondering whether or not I'm going to be able to use my cell. Thanks!

Verizon considers the VIs roaming. VI is not in the IN network.

Your phone will work on certain places on island.

If you have Verizon free nights and weekends national plan there are no roaming or extra charges. However if you get connected to the BVI tower charges may be applied and you will need to dispute with Verizon. I had free and BVI charges on last visit to STT - disputed the charges and they were removed for the one call that it happened on. Service is sporatic - may not be best long term solution but OK if you are visiting etc.
