VI Voting Strategies ?

Good morning and happy election day! Please vote!

I have a question about voting strategies in the VI and I'm wondering how people get the most out of their votes.

The elections for VI senators are unusual. The top 7 vote-getters from each district win a seat in the legislature.

Each voter gets 7 votes for legislators in their district.

So how do you cast your votes for best effect?

-Should you use all 7 of your votes?
-If you like only 4 candidates should you only cast 4 votes?
-If you dislike a candidate should you cast your 7 votes for anyone but that candidate in order to raise the total number of votes cast and thus raise the number of votes that candidate did NOT get, and does that make it more difficult for the candidate you dislike to gain office?

I've heard many different approaches over the years and I'm curious what you think.

Since it is really only a popularity contest - like the High School prom queen -- bullet voting -- that is voting ONLY for the candidates you want is the most effective strategy.

I just voted earlier and was VERY disappointed to see that only 1 candidate ran in STJ for the AT Large seat - that is why the people of STJ have little reason to complain if there is no other person willing to represent them and make an effort!

I've never voted the full 7.
Sometimes only for one, the bullet vote.
Sometimes more but never 7.
