Bit -

There are lots of folks here who have stayed at Fairview and the proprietor is a regular on this board, full of information. Look for his posts under the unique name of "Ronnie" using the search feature at the top of the page. He'll set you up and take care of you if he has an opening for the dates you need. Or type in "Villa Fairview". I know nothing about Islandview, can't help you there, but Ronnie has an excellent reputation and you can't go wrong with him.

My mother and I stayed at Villa Fairview when we moved down. It was great. We had a great time. It's a great way to meet people. As soon as we moved down we knew everyone there so we had a whole group of friends right away. The neighborhood isn't great. I would recommend that you rent a car if you plan to stay there. You don't have to, it's in walking distance to downtown but as I said the neighborhood isn't great. Some rooms are better than others.

My friend stayed at Islandview Guesthouse when she moved down. It's just up the street. It's nicer, but she was also paying a lot more. I did not regret my choice.

Ronnie owns both. He was very helpful and a great guy. I highly recommend either.

I stayed at Island View a couple of times four or so years ago. It was OK, I guess-- you get what you pay for and by island standards it was inexpensive. The owners were very nice. Driving in/out and parking were treacherous.

I did awaken to the sound of gunfire somewhere below on two occasions, though. Sound carries, so it could have come from anywhere above/west of downtown.

If I needed a short-term less expensive place (less expensive than a villa), I'd stay at Mafolie.

I do not own Island View. It is above Sub Base. I also own The Crystal Palace.
Thanks.

Anyone else have additional information on Island View? Or know of other reasonably priced alternatives for a 1 month PMV besides Villa Fairview or Mafolie? Thanks!

Just bringing this post back up. I too would like to know any information anybody has on Island View Guest House. I have been in contact with Ronnie and if I were to come alone I would stay at his place for sure. I need other options because I may have more people coming with me now. I have already done a search and there isn't much information. Thanx in advance to anyone who may be of help.

I stayed at Island View Guest House over Thanksgiving. It was cheap and not a bad place to stay if all you are doing is sleeping. Definitely not a place to stay if you will be hanging out in your room the whole time but they have a great breakfast (fruit, sandwiches, etc..), an honor bar and other amenities. I met a couple people while I was there that were living there temporarily and they were happy with it. There are two options with the rooms, shared and private baths. My friend and I chose the private but the people living there chose the shared. It didn't seem too bad. The downfall is most cabs won't take you "up the hill" to get there. We found a couple but if you get down the hill it's ok. Let me know if you have more questions. Hope that helped a little.

I am just bumping this thread. Except for Island View, Mafolie, Villa Fairview, Captain's. Anyone know of anyother reasonably priced month long accomodations on the island. Thanks
