Would the Villa Fairview be a good place to stay while looking for a job and a more permament place to live in St. Thomas? What is the best way to find a roommate(s) once I get down there?

Hello Karl,

Yes Villa Fairview is a good choice for a short term place to stay while seeking an apartment & job. Check out their web site for pictures etc.

Finding a roommate(s). You can use word of mouth, ask around, ask co-workers. Try looking at bulletin boards in mail centers, markets. The newspaper.

I stayed last Oct and paid $850/month for the biggest room they had. My mom paid $750 for a smaller but very nice room. Some rooms are definintely nicer than others.

Are you in Charlotte, N.C. or on the islands? I'm in Charlotte now but am heading to STT in June. BTW, what part of Charlotte?

Hi Courtney:

Am in Charlotte, NC..Now..University area..Mallard Creek Church Rd/Prosperity Rd ..Going to work/look for work/ or visit? I was there on two occasions last year..YOU WILL LOVE IT..BUT BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS.Its not at all like Charlotte,,YOU must make the adjustment to the people there..they will accept you if you accept who and what they are..customs etc..always say "good morning"/evening...DONT JUST WALK UP AND ASK A QUESTION.. they will be very short with you if you do.

GOOD LUCK!

Max,

My plans are to permanently relocate to UVI in September, would Villa Fairview accept pets for short term while looking for place to rent long term?

Goal is to go with job in hand, I'm optimistic however realism says - good goal - may be attainable may be not.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kind regards,
Phoenix

Hello Phoenix,

I am not sure if you are still deciding between St. Thomas or St. Croix, but I noted you asked your other questions about St. Croix so I'd quess you were leaning toward moving there. In any case I mention all that because Villa Fairview is on St. Thomas.

I believe Villa Fairview accepts little pets; cats, little dogs - Ronnie can you confirm??

Islander, you are the best!

You're right, I was leaning towards STX (right?) however now I'm looking more closely at St. Thomas because it appears there may be some more employment opportunity for me there. I know the folks that own an airline that flies to St. Thomas & St. Croix so I'm "playing tag" with them for their insight.

I did email Ron at Villa Fairview directly. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My timing is Sept. 05 because I'm selling everything..simplifying, etc., etc.

Kindest regards,
Phoenix

Hi!

Have't heard yet from Ron about Villa Fairview & Pets? Perhaps Rpn didn't receive my email?

Islander, have you heard any news on that front?

Plans still in the works. Have auctioneer coming to pick up most of my things to "lighten my load." Hope some cottages or apartmens are furnished. Only bringing most meaningful family pieces. (& my girls - dogs - of course).

Still a ways off - few months - excitement increasing. You'll definitely be hearing from me with all kinds of questions.

Thanks Islander, especially, & all of you who are terrific with sharing your info. I hope at the appropriate time and place, I can get together with some of you ( probably in the fall but what the heck, not to soon to express interest in making friends with folks.

Thanks again. Look forward to hearing from you.

Kindest regards,
Phoenix

I didn't? Were you the one with 2 dogs? When people say pets I know they are covering for dogs! I used to allow dogs as all owners said they never barked and were well behaved. I have found out different. If I have not answered, email again. Sometimes emails fall thru the cracks! If they are cats no problem. Samll dogs may be condidered!

Hi Ronnie,

Thanks! The first email probably did fall through the cracks. No problem.

I am disappointed about the dogs, however I can understand some are better than others - dogs sometimes are only as good as the care their steward (I don't think we own them) gives them or the training provided. So, I certainly understand.

I'm disappointed because I've heard ("read on the message board") such wonderful feedback about Villa Fairview and what a great guy you are.

If you know of any place that might provide short term - one or 2 months rental for 1 "mature" woman woman and 2 75lb dogs (no they are not little - they're Labs. Might as well be up front about that right now:-)

Thanks so much for getting back to me. If you know of or hear of any place, would you be kind enough to let me know? I won't be arriving until sometime in September. I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks again.

Kind regards,
Phoenix

Just remember, if I can accept them, you need to reserve 3-4 months in advance. It's not a backburner type of thing!

Ronnie,

Thanks. I'll move it up to the front burner along with the auction.

Would mid- May be suitable to see if reservations are available in mid-late September or would you have to know earlier? Just let me know.

Thanks again for your consideration.

All the best,
Phoenix

(oh what the heck, Kristin is the name:-)
