I remember at one time the shelter was trapping feral cats and dogs, spay/neutering them then putting back where they were trapped. I believe they notched and ear to show they had been treated.

The begging lady wasn't at the hospital. Now I'll worry. I was told there's a homeless guy who lives in a tree in front of the hospital, too.

I saw the make-up lady today, she was rocking a leopard print ensemble...it was really meant tho for home use, not casual wear! She was getting off of a safari by Giant Gas. Whats up with the homeless guy that is always at Wendy's? One day he really scared me, pointing a "finger gun" at me while stuck in the drive thru lane, which took forever!

I hate being stuck in a drive-through when somebody like that is around. There used to be one at McDonald's. If I need a fast food fix now I usually just park & go inside.

Anybody know why the Pueblo at Golden Rock was 'closed this evening? I went there around 6:30, noticed the sparse amount of vehicles in the parking lot and just thought that something was going on somewhere else. Paying no attention, I got as far as the front doors which were closed, was told by some man who was not in ant sort of uniform that they were "closed". Sure enough, the glass doors were shut and I saw a circle of people, one being the manager in some sort of meeting right there by the registers. No police, no haz-mat, nothing other than this group of maybe 6-10 or so people in a cluster talking. I just went back to my car and went to Food Town, but then was curious to know what the heck this was all about...on a Friday evening no less.
Anyone have a clue?? :S

I don't know what's going on, but that's an interesting development coming on the heels of last months news:

"USVI Pueblo supermarket owner arrested
Edition: September 17, 2009 | Volume: 37 | No: 37

The news grabbed USVI headlines as Ahmad Alkhatib, new owner of the Pueblo supermarkets in the U.S. Virgin Islands (St. Thomas and St. Croix), was placed under arrest as he tried to board a jet at the Cyril E. King Airport. The supermarket executive is accused, among other things, of tampering with stores’ power meters to steal electricity. So far, it is estimated Alkhatib was plugging the power company for more than a year and stealing more than $1 million worth of electricity. Local authorities imposed $200,000 bail, stating the Pueblo executive—given his extensive business travels—is a flight risk. They want to keep Alkhatib close by to improve their chances of recovering payment for the allegedly stolen power."

The next thing you know the government will seize Pueblo. Then they will be in the supermarket business as well as the hotel business.

It looks like it. I tried to stay 'postive' in my posts to him hoping to encourage him to be more friendly on this message board, but I think it's hopeless. I feel very sorry for him. He's very opinionated and seems so sad and angry. I hate to see someone spiral downward like that. But those posts were depressing! I love to hear what's happening on the islands, but not always the dark side.

he is offensive to most and yesterdays comments were over the top racial and inhumane. I am sure he will surface again with another persona...troll

I agree that this thread needs to stay positive, helpful and funny while we go thru daily life here in our paradise.

So, speaking of daily life, did anyone here the storm last night on STT? I thought the roof was going to come right off, great lightening however!

Govenment run supermarket...

First thing that comes to mind, is there won`t be anything in stock(the employees helped themselves as usual to the taxpayers stuff ).
The next thought is, what would the cost be(they can`t possibly be more greedy than the Arabs, right?).
Since there are no mental giants at the registers, or in management, the government team would be no different I suspect.
One can still expect the same courtsy from management, that the customer is a mudda scu...
I think, perhaps, we may get a upgrade in the meat manager @ Crownbay(awful), &, perhaps a less Bit(hy one @ Mandella Circle.
The stores will probably still look like shite.

And finally,(I`m sure you can think of more/better ones)
WAPA still won`t get paid, at least Pueblo won`t be directly stealing power, Pueblo will then be able to steal from the rest of us, like the rest of the VI government does(the government, PSC allows outrageous rates), so WE can subsidize the government`s electricity!

Nobody told me to stay away from the Sunny Isle area on Saturday mornings! Sheesh! Thought I was going to go through a tank of gas just waiting in traffic... Same at Plaza and CUL... Hopefully my CRS won't kick in and I'll remember to shop on a weekday...

It's hard to imagine he withdrew. Every time I saw him at the cafe he talked about this forum.
