My guess is that the author of the piece has never had to go to a mainland city ER. Would have been better served calling a private physician/clinic. This happened on STX but at least on STT now (and maybe even on STX) there are a couple of private practices whose physicians are on call 24/7 for emergencies.

does anyone know the name of any drs. on stx who offer 24/7 emergency service?

Island Animal Hospital. Better service, too.

Dr. Hess was amazing, and took care of my animals for years. I hear his replacement, Dr. House, is equally amazing. I also hear Dr. Hess is doing well in retirement and is healthy and happy.

What a sad freaking state of affairs where the best hospital for humans in a community is a vet clinic.
