A few days ago I came home and saw that some division in our government bulldozed the brush back in my neighborhood. Well, lo and behold, there is a pile/trail of abandoned vehicles revealed!

Then I remembered, VIWMA by law is responsible for cleaning up the revealed mess.

If you too have a pile-o-trash along your roadside, follow this link:

Sign in to the "report a problem" link, /reportAProblem.aspx>

Well, I can't figure out how to make it a link, but that's the page to report your problem.

If you do not get the response you like, Stella Saunders, who dispatches the problem, can be reached at 712-4950 or 690-4218

VIWMA is spending a whole lot-o-dollars telling us what they are doing for us, but I prefer to see action.

Good Luck to you!

GREAT! 25 hits/reads in 45 minutes...

Y'all PM me with the date, location reported, and infraction, and I will keep a database, which I will report on as it accumulates.

If anyone questions what I wrote, go to michies.com/virginislands and read the law/code for yourself. It's all there: VIWMA is the responsible division of our government for abandoned vehicles and illegal dumpsites.

Thanks! Together we the community, not the promise of government, can make a difference.

One More Comment, aimed to those contemplating moving here: This IS a beautiful place with some of the most beautiful and warmest people I have ever met. I moved here three years ago, and as far as I am concerned it was a one way ticket.

But, please come here with a desire to participate in the culture and community, and come here knowing that you must "keep pushing" to be a part of a change that will bring us to an acceptable standard of living. Find your niche, whether it is litter, public policy, illiteracy, or public safety. Together we can make things happen for the better. Expect resistance, but keep pushing. Things are changing, and I am hopeful by the slow progress that we will all be living in a safe and clean environment.

Find a way to volunteer, even if it only making your voice heard for an hour a week: It all adds up!
