I was able to order grocery items, pet food and paper products. I received a confirmation that order was accepted. I am now waiting to see if they actually get shipped. *-)

Thanks all for answering my question. If your order was confirmed, I can't see it not shipping. Good luck.
It does seem like something screwy was going on.
I'm happy the Walmart.com situation seems to be resolved 🙂

for now-article in the avis. i have not read it but local merchants don't think its fair that we can order from walmart and get things at a reasonable cost?

If Walmart is willing to pay for shipping to keep cost down for us, then I don't see what the problem is. The local merchants (K-Mart for one) would get our business if they were to lower their profit margin and have products available, I would pay a few dollars more to buy locally. But, when the monthly savings is close to $75 (that goes to the LEAC increase and local establishements like dining out) why would I not get my household items from Walmart? K-mart west is the most profitable store in the PR/USVI Market. They really aren't "hurting". I hope Walmart remains available to us.

There is a difference between being profitable and being greedy, like some business owners are.

My order was still denied, citing shipping restrictions. Coffee, and asst. medicine box items.

Thinking in terms of a conspiracy theory ...

I rarely shop off island. Some eBay here and here, a smidge of Amazon but I've never even thought of ordering from Walmart online for basics. Now that this whole thing has been brought into the limelight and appears to be in the process of being resolved, Walmart might just have a whole bunch of new USVI customers.

Thinking in terms of a conspiracy theory ...

If more and more people begin shopping online, prices in the VI stores will begin to drop. Basic economics. Everybody needs to start doing it!!!

I totally agree. We are such a captive audience and the big box stores attitude is "where else are they going to go?"

My order processed coffee, tea and asst. medicine cabinet items minus Aloe Mosquito Repellent. HOWEVER -- the estimated arrival date is December 12!! Guess free shipping is now Parcel Post. More planning ahead needed.

More than likely they'll close as so many in the States did when Walmart opened a store.
