Walmart shipping to VI

FYI, fellow VI shoppers:

I just ordered a dehumidifier at Walmart.com. Supposedly it will be shipped to me by Standard delivery and arrive by the 17th.
Will let all know if it arrives error-free.

Labor practices aside, if Walmart delivers large items like dehumidifiers, the possibilities are endless...

Smart move! Something I learned that is also helpful in absorbing humidity is old fashioned wood charcoal (not the artificial stuff and make sure no starter fluid is in it). You can dry the charcoal out in the sun a few times in between and even maybe get to use it for BBQ-ing later on.

Onika,

What made you order from them as opposed to getting the ones at Home Depot? I ask because I've been contemplating getting one from Home Depot- is it not a good brand?

Best,

LR

Hey LR--

I purchased a Fedders 65-pint dehumidifier, which is exactly the same brand and model no. available at our local big box store.

So, in tactful answer to your question...

is the desire to save over $100, even with shipping, good enough reason?

Donna, charcoal sounds like a great, economical and earth-friendly way to a handle an ever-increasing problem in my home.

It also sounds WAY too interactive, time-consuming and messy.

Seems like the kind of thing I aspire to do, but can't seem to find the time for.

🙂

O.

My first choice is a dehumidifier (I use one all the time) - and I know you will be happy with yours! The charcoal is just another "hint" for those who don't have the option or for that matter, when the power is out. I keep the charcoal in the bag - no mess.

Can you use a dehumidifier if you keep your louvers open? Do you have to keep the room closed up? Onika, I would like to hear a report on this gadget, please! 😉
