Hi, I'm Jeremy, 21 years old and will be graduating from college in May. I have always wanted to live in the Caribbean and I am planning on moving after I graduate. At the moment I am planning on only going for 6 months or more but could see myself never leaving. Does anyone know of apartments for rent that are not to outrageous in price. I'm looking for a place for myself and on of my friends from school. I was also wondering how hard it is to get a job as wait staff for a restaurant, I have experience. Any information would help.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Jobs are easy to find in the areas you mentioned - especially during high season - with respect to tourists.

Jeremy,
I'm graduating in May and looking to do the same thing as you. I found a work exchange program in Maho Bay. This would get you down there for the first month. If you find a place and need a third roommate, e-mail me and let me know.
The site address is below.

Hey Scott, I looked up that program and it looks like an awesome way to get there. Do you know anything about it, like exactly what kind of work there going to have you do. I wouldn;t want to be cleaning bathrooms all day. Also is it really only 4 hours that you have to work each day, cause thats not much at all. I'm going to call them tomorrow to ask questions, but let me know what you think.

What school do you go to?

Jeremy

Pet peeve of mine: There is no "S" in "St. John"! There is only one of them and St.John doesn't own it! Haha! "St. Johns" is a city in Antigua, "St. John" is an islandin the USVI.

Sorry! I just have to rant about it after hearing tourists all day, everyday, making the same goof! haha!

Hello Jeremy,

We have a section with Relocation Stories... #31 is from someone that recently went through the Maho Program:

https://vimovingcenter.com/what_to_expect/movingstory31.php

Cut and paste the link or at the top of this page click on Home & from the menu choose What to Expect. Also do that to look up Cost of Living for Apartment average prices and other costs. Restaurant work is fairly easy to get during high season which runs from around Dec-May; usually easiest at the begginning months. By the middle of season most seasonal employees are here already and working so there are fewer openings. And a note: The slowest of our slow tourist months are Aug-Oct. so not the ideal time to move if you are looking for restaurant work.
