I generally agree StCroix, but when his bosses are corrupted politicians who steal from us through taxes and give little in return then that man becomes complicit in the theft and corruption. I'm not saying that's 100% the case here but that's the sense many have.

Folks

I have an idea. Every time the power goes out we should call WAPA and ask for the high paid king of money, Mr. GREAT HODGES?

this is the worst power company that i have ever seen. There is an outage at lease once a week. Abut two years ago it seemed that it was getting better. Now it is the worst. In think he should take a salary of 10,000 and if it is fixed in a year than he can get 240,000. If not he should be FIRED!

People forget that this is a group of islands of 120,000 legal residents. This is not as big as most TOWNS in the main land. And we have more governmental overhead than washington DC.

He has had YEARS of opportunity and nothing has gotten better. We have one windmill that was over a year in getting started and was delayed by guess who? WAPA! And who ran WAPA? Guess who? Mr 240,000. It is time we bit the bullet and put up enough wind mills to make WAPA a thing of the past. But who will stop that? Guees WHO? WAPA.

I can not defend the man or the company.

By the way there was a power outage last night. Caused by WAPA. I will call them later, as they don't open until 9:00 and thank them for ythe gift they sent me last night.

Here in Salt River STX, the power interruptions seem to be fewer in the past year or two, not worse. They used to happen weekly, but starting around 2009 (I think), we sometimes went months without outages.

Part of the reason we have so many outages compared to the mainland is that the mainland is on a grid, so if power generation fails from one source, it instantly switches to another source. Here, we're all by ourselves.

LOL, everytime I've called to inquire about power the person has always been so nice & kind.

I would hope everyone at WAPA would get a substantial raise comparable to Hodge's raise.

Hear, hear!
Don't give him a raise, give him his walking papers!

I feel sorry for him too as after fueling his free car w/ free wapa vehicle fuel, & driving it to Pueblo where he gets free food for not pressing the wapa theft issue, then drives to the arab mini mart for free booze(he doesn't press them either for electric theft).
He finally arrives home, with his free wapa air conditioned home that he must open the windows for climate control ala the government offices(too stupid to figure out a thermostat).
Then there's the kickbacks from the PSC & (obviously) the wapa board as well!
Then he only got what like $510,000 left!

Poor soul!

Maybe Hodge could make this work and solve all of our energy problems.

With all the money being passed under the table you really think they want someone more competent to run the circus? No. They want someone just as corrupt as the rest of 'em. If anyone tries to replace him they'll simply tell them "you're over-qualified" aka you're going to come in and do what it takes to turn WAPA around and we don't want to have to answer to the community when they ask too many questions.

Vigem - my opinion as well.. They (WAPA) have also run everybody out of "Dodge" when it comes to a "better or more efficient idea" on changing the way the VI generates electricity. Overpaid management that only gives lip service to alternative energy ideas is what we have here..
