Just curious if anyone else has had WAPA problems today?
East end, near Divi
Feeder 3
We've had LOTS of on/off power interruptions all day long. We're just trying to figure out if it's our house or if it's WAPA.

Best to call them and ask what the propblem is or if they are experiencing a problem that affects your area..
If no one else has a problem, it could be an isolated incident.
I have learned to always call. That doesn't mean that they will always answer the phone but usually if you call the line dept. you can get thru.
Good luck, May the light be with you!

My power went off last night at 9pm, came back at 1pm, now off again since 10.45 pm. I'm on feeder 10, but it seems to be more localized to my neighborhood since no one else I know in frederiksted is having this issue. Usually we have the occasional outage, for a couple hours every few weeks or so--nothing super inconvenient. But the past week has been particularly bad.

Last yr. (I think it was, anyway) we had 27 outages in a 6 week period of time in my location/northside/STT.
I counted. Very frustrating, indeed.

If you can get WAPA to come out, (Call the emergency line dept.) they will tell you if it's them (and fix problem) or they will tell you if you need to call and electrician to fix the problem if it is inside the house (circuit breakers) or if you need to replace your meter box. Ask your neighbors if they are having the same problems. That should narrow it down.

we have had several outages over the past several days. Normally we don't have that many issues in a year! We are on the South East side of Havensa, Work and Rest. Not quite sure what feeder.

Called WAPA - They were just here and told us that the breaker on the actual pole needs to be replaced. And, we also need someone to replace some wiring on the pole that rats are chewing through.

Anyway - Now, I need the names and numbers of trustworthy electricians.

Thanks for your help!

If you were in STT, I could refer my electrician but sure someone in STX will know someone reliable to call.
Good Luck.

A few years ago I went through something similar at my restaurant when all of a sudden the electric started going crazy with fans slowing down and speeding up, lights going on and off ... WAPA came right out and advised that the problem wasn't theirs but that I needed to get the bad outside wiring fixed NOW. It was a Sunday. I shut off the power and frantically tried to find a licensed electrician who could do the job. To cut a long story short I was able to get NR Electric to come out right away who did a fantastic job which they finished up very early the following morning. They were prompt, reliable, professional, the price was reasonable and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. This was on STT but they're also on STX at Sion Farm, 773-4266.

I just used Jimmy Adams on a job and his crew did a professional job for about half the cost of other estimates that I got. His number is 340-513-0247. Other electricians I have worked with and would use again are Meinrad Jagrup (340-513-1510 or 340-772-1825) and Owen Johnson (340-772-5798 or 340-642-0801).
