water bills

Thanks for the informative examples of electric bills. It inspired me to ask about "city" water bills.

Our municipal water bills for a West End apartment (that we usually rent) has suddenly increased by 2x to 4x ... including while unoccupied during installation of a new bathroom. Previously the average water bill was $40-$70 per month for couples or single person. Then monthly water bills recently jumped to over $150 and for next four months have continued above $115, even after the bathroom renovation ended and before the next tenant moved in.

According to our caretaker, there are no visible or audible leaks in toilets or elsewhere.

We would really appreciate any helpful suggestions to explain this
shocking increase in our water bills. Is anything strange going on with water rates or water bills on St. Croix lately?

Ditto ! Mine was outrageous this month too...and my hubby has been gone all month! Is this the "increase" that was mentioned in the papers a month or two ago?
