I just reviewed the weather forecast for St Thomas and it shows a 30 to 50% chance for rain everyday. Can someone who lives in the area tell me if this is normal weather that just passes through each day or if our vacation may really be full of rain showers in lieu of Sunshine? I was sure hoping for 7 good days on the beach....

MLB: You have stumbled onto the relocation board for the USVI!:D Unfortunately for you, most of the locals here are praying for rain, as the islands are very brown right now. This is the end of the dry season and if we are lucky, there will be rain at night and in the early morning, not enough to bother your vacation! Very rarely do we have rain all day, even in the middle of the rainy season.

I recall booking a trip on the True Love out of Red Hook some years ago. The weather was awful in the morning. We went to the boat and asked the captain if the sail was still on. He said, "Sure."

We saw a tiny patch of blue off in the distance. That's where he headed. It was a little rough, but by the time we got that bit of blue, it was gorgeous! The rest of the day was bright and sunny and warm and wonderful.

BTW, anyone know where the True Love is now?

True Love was sold to a group from new York and left the VI in early Nov. 2009 - they plan to use her commercially on a lake in NY in the summer and travel to Marathon FL for winter use in the daysailing mode.
She was here for many years and a classic 1926 Alden Schooner, a very pretty vessel whose presence out sailing will be missed by locals and visitors.

The weather forecast for the islands almost always says 30% chance of rain for the islands. And somewhere it probably will be raining somewhere on the island but not all over it, but usually not lasting more then 30 minutes to a hour. Now when you get up to 50 to 80% there is a better chance it will be a rainy day.
