I was wondering what the weather was generally like in August and September.

I'm assuming you mean in the USVI. Generally you'll find daytime temps in the mid-to-high 80's F. Mostly sunny skies with some puffy clouds and occasional brief passing showers. Of course, August and September is smack in the middle of peak hurricane season so there is always a chance of a major storm front passing through. In other words, there are no guarantees when it comes to predicting the weather.
