western exposure-no breeze?

We're considering buying a piece of land on St. Croix. One of our concerns is that it is on the leeward side of a knoll and doesn't seem to get the full ocean breeze. In another post, Islander said that June-August are very still months. We haven't experienced the Christmas winds. Residents: do you think that being in a sheltered spot is a drawback or an advantage?

Thanks for your advice!

Disadvantage. 500 feet up, quarter mile in... maximum breeze, minimum salt, minimum skeeters!
PS also maximum hurricane damage... oh well. You can't have everything!

Thank you so much, cleric! I'd take a hurricane over mosquitos any day! 🙂
