Just know if you fiance a car here you may not be able to take it off island until you pay it off. Had renters that bought a new truck down here and left it in the 1st Banks parking lot to be repossessed when they left because the bank wouldn't let them take it with them when they left. The husband hated it here so much after a year he didn't care about the damage it would do to their credit. Or at the very least that's the reason they told me they let it get repossessed.

But if you can pay cash out right or have a good bank stateside, shouldn't have any trouble.

Hiya--couldn't he have sold it for what he owed on it and just paid off in one lump sum? Surely that's better than defaulting?

You can call Jimmy at Budget in Contant on STT, they just recently started selling off their inventory so they can make room for newer models.

I have only been here a month and a half, & one thing I would not buy here is a new car. Roads, streets, parking lots are too tight, bound to get hit/scraped at some point.

stxem, he bought a fully loaded extended cab massive truck, I'm sure it was in the 50k range. I guess they didn't want to dip into their savings or had none. I can't imagine doing it. I'd rather sell the truck at a loss and pay the remainder off. But some people just don't care about their credit. And he just wanted off, his wife of coarse loved it here.

markvincent, I have a hybrid. They don't sell as well here because you have to go to a mechanic to get it fixed or the oil changed, etc.. So you are locked into a few mechanics and it's never a good thing. Having to deal with the automart every six months or so it a giant test in patience for me and I've been here over ten years. Better off with a small subcompact.
