What one product, service or business that you don't currently have would you most like to see on St. Croix?

Its a harder question then it seems. There are many things that would be nice to have here. But being able to make a profit at any of them may be hard. Do you have experience running a business and the costs involved stateside? As you've probably heard it's expensive to live here period and if you have a business you're going to run into even more hidden costs like Gross Receipts Tax. If you have a business that requires a franchise fee or one where you have to ship your products in you really need to have a good business plan together.

No one wants to here it before they are here, but the best way to go about starting a business here is to live here for a year and work in the business you are thinking of starting here to get a handle on what it would be like. Unless you are going to running something like computer repairs or baby sitting its not really the same as stateside. Give yourself the best chance to succeed and live here for a while first. 🙂 So, so , SO many people come here and run into so many problems they never had to deal with before and end up loosing A LOT of money.

Its a different culture and a different way of life, make sure its right for you before you buy a business or a home.

I don't say this to crush anyone's dream. Just want to give you a heads up to do it right.

I don't know about St Croix, but I was just wondering the other day, with all the goats we have here on St Thomas, why doesn't someone make local goat cheese? You know the restaurants would buy the heck out of it....

I like the rent-a-goat lawn care idea, good one Dixie!
A steak in the ground,a rope & a hungry goat(do they ever stop eating?).
Talk about a low overhead!
Now, I`m thinking what i spend to keep the bush down!
While I love playing gladiator & I`m quite good with a machete...Question, how much is a goat?
How much does it eat/poop?
Doesn`t it need something else to round out it`s diet?
I think about all the equipment I have to have/maintain here...

dntw8up, lol, my adult daughter who lives with us is pregnant. Her doctor is closing his practice because his mother is ill back in the states. She has caledl all the OBs on island and none are accepting new patients. I am too old and don't have the plumbing anymore to make a child and hopefully won't be adopting anymore. JJ is all I can handle. 🙂

a dairy queen using goats milk

yes dun i have thought of the rent a goat idea. you take goat to peoples house but you have to make sure its a good goat home.

they eat the bush there and then you pick them up and move to another house. rent by day.

i had goats in the states that we bought to clear 15 acres. they did it nicely and no cost to us.

rent a goat and rent a chicken (to clear out centipedes) rent a cat for mice........get the idea??

Yes they eat tan tan. I've being trying to convince my husband to rent a goat to eat my ever-frustrating tan-tan but he says they will completely destroy everything...they are not very selective eaters apparently. I'm going to try and get one anyway during the day when he is at work. I really love goats, even though they smell.

As far as getting one, there are a ton of goat farmers out there. Not sure how much they would charge per day. Just have to ask I suppose.

female goats do not smell as bad as male goats. (they take more baths) lol . they eat tan tan but do not eat a certain weed. I forget which one. just have to becareful dogs don't bother them. a horse can clean up also but they are smeller and bigger.
keep goats away from cars also. they love to climb on them. as least mine did. and if i remember right they did not like rain. at least hard rain. mine wore a small cow bell so i could tell where she was at all times. she ran free.
