Please ship them off island. The Humane Society has to throw out a lot of stuff that isn't sellable, and they get lots of books. Storage here is limited and expensive so people toss it and forget it so landfill keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Try selling on ebay if you can. Anything to keep it out of landfill. Thank you.

Thanks CruzanIron.
I'll be sure to get that done before I head up in October to buy a car and furnish home and/or see what I'll want to bring with me. Can't make the complete move with dogs until I get house here rented but will be going up to set everything up prior to that then bringing dogs. Step by step.

Leaving it as I'll be back and forth and will need it here for the time being.
The apt. has its own separate parking from the main house, so no problem.

OK. A title transfer in FL costs around $350-$400.

If you are going to own a car in FL, you are going to need a FL drivers license eventually to get insurance. You will also need a copy of your drivers records to get a good driver discount, since they cannot access your VI records on line.

When you purchase a car in Florida:
you pay sales tax - The state of Florida imposes 6% sales tax on the full purchase price less trade-in plus any county tax.

you pay your registration fee that renews on your birthday each year. I've never paid more than $150 for a vehicle. Once you register your car, you have something like 90 days to get your drivers license otherwise, if stopped by a cop, you'll get a ticket.

You cannot register your car without proof of insurance. Insurance unfortunately will cost at least $1,000 per year. You don't need a FL drivers license to get FL insurance.

There is a charge to get a title (around $75).

You'll need a devilish amount of identify proof to get your FL drivers license.

I paid over $300 to transfer a VI title to a FL title.

In state transfer is less.

Luckily I still have a Florida title for a BMW I bought in 1981. VI never asked for it, so I still have that original. I'll use it when I go license.
