What Happened To The Tim Duncan Lovefest???

DISCLAIMER:

I really like and honestly respect Tim Duncan ...before and after he beat my Pistons a few years ago.

But here are my reasons for my subject line:

When I was in STX in March (trip #12) I didn't notice the TIm D. billboard at the airport. It may have be there but in the past the taxi driver would always point it out. On the return trip to the airport, I asked the Olympic shuttle driver what was up with Timmy & STX. He shook his head and more or less said that Tim's VIP status was on the outs because he reneged on some promises. I know guys BS to tourists to make them feel like they're in the know and I dismissed it at the time.

But now when San Antonio wins it all and at the end of ESPN's Steward Scott interview with Tim, Steward referenced the VI and Tim responded with, " yeh, the virgin islands". (NOTE the intentional all lower case)

And now the STX Source and the VI Daily News on-line editions have no Timmy stories. I know the papers abbreviate their content that's available on-line, but in the past Timmy's accomplishments were always front page news and rightfully so.

Am I imagining all of this or is there actually something going on in Mayberry STX that's trying to be resolved?

Also were any board members on STX in 1979 when Ron Charles (Central H.S.) and some other guys named Magic, Special K, Vincent, Donnelly, Brkovich,"Shoes" Huffman, and Jud beat The Hick From French Lick?

You didn't look good enough. Both the front and back page of the Dailey News was al about Timmy and the Spurs.
