Mango Tango - Raphune Hill or Yacht Haven STT
St Thomas Gallery - Post Office Sq. STT
Both have a lot of local representation
St John - In general has a lot more local artists - look for Les Andersons work [ my favorite]

Contact Preston Doane. He is a very well known artist who has been in the Caribbean and on STX most of his long life.
He lives in STC condos. If you can't find him, PM me and I can put him in contact with you.

I'm not on island right now but isn't there a Starving Artist Fair coming up soon at Whim? I've always found good items there.

Starving artist don't price their stuff like they're starving, plus $5 to get in. Basically you're not going to find cheap paintings like you can stateside. But then the artwork you will encounter here is usually much better then what you see stateside.

You can find cheap prints anywhere in the art galleries downtown. There are about 6 or 8 galleries to choose from. Usually about $20 a print. If you're buying several they might give you a discount if you ask nicely. 🙂 Also on First friday they are all usually open and the artist is usually there along with free drinks and sales.

Moving Sales are the only place you might get lucky and find cheap paintings. Just getting anything framed on this island cost a fortune. But I always think it's worth it if its a piece you love and want to protect.

Design Works on Company St. STX has some nice originals from local artists. They also have prints and other interesting decorations, all very tropical. Tresoro also has prints and steel barrel wall art. Not sure how to describe that. Maybe someone else has a better explanation, but artists take old steel barrels, cut them up and somehow pound or shape them into very cool pieces. It's very local. It can be expensive, but smaller pieces are usually reasonable.
