Hello All!
Thanks for the responses to my previous post. I was wondering if I could get some recommendations on accommodations for our “scouting” trip, the cheaper the better. This move is going to break us as it is. We are coming down for a week in July before we move in August. We’re hoping to find a place to rent at that time. Are there any neighborhoods that you would not recommend living in? We would like to live as close it UVI as possible but really we’ll be happy finding any place that takes our dogs and us.

Hello Lauren,

Places on St. Croix you might look at -

www.kingchristian.com
www.sandcastleonthebeach.com
www.longfordhideaway.com
www.canebaystcroix.com
www.pinkfancy.com
(the folks at Pink Fancy have dogs on their web site as the PR person and Guest Services - so if you stayed there I am assuming the owners of the hotel are dog owners and can maybe assist with your apt. search.)

BTW--the Pink Fancy is a lovely property very centrally located! The dogs, Peanut and Sallie, are a nice bonus too.

Pink Fancy by far!!
I can not recommend the pink fancy enough. The property is located on Prince st in C'sted STX. I was able to visit a lot of places, dining,
Peanut and Sally are great. David and Motasem (B&B hosts) are very helpful, arranging tours, cabs, recommendations, etc. The rooms are lovely, I believe all have fridge, kitchenettes, you can request a microwave. This will save you money on dining. There is a place to walk to for groceries, then take cab back to the hotel so you don't have to carry.
I liked it because you don't have to get a car. To see the island, take the St Croix Safari Tour, This will get you to F'sted, Cruzan Rum, Whim Plantation, Botanical Garden, Dominoe Club (Bear Drinking Pigs and Mamma Wanna), a beautiful scenic tour along the northern shore line and rainforest. The guy, who runs the tour is very knowlegdable and helpful and just nice as can be.
You will also see many parts of the island if your viewing property. The agents are like tour guides themselves.
If you have specific questions be happy to give you my insight from my experiences.
