OK, I'll be moving to the island in Nov. Now that the great sport of football has commenced, is there a bar or restaraunt that has them playing? Please help, I know I'll be losing some luxuries moving to STX, but I can't give up football.

Sharkey's, located next to Schooner Bay Market is a sports bar and they show lots of games.

Thank you! We used to have the Direct TV Sunday ticket and can't imagine going without this season!

I went to Sharkey's recently for a pre-season game and was quite disappointed. One bartender told me they could pull up any game, conjuring up fantasies that I would be able to follow the Chiefs season provided I got there early and got my dibs on one of the TVs. What they have is a NFL summary channel that shifts back and forth between games and shows highlights. Yikes! Now I'm worried. There is no DirectTV with an NFL package to take advantage of. At least the first Chiefs game is covered with the Jets (local channels on the Dish Network come from NY - I know more than I want about the Democratic runoff for Mayor in NYC...)

I hear that Rooftops by Sunny Isle is another possibility for NFL/NCAA games. That's my next stop. I am anxious yet hopeful.

I went to Rooftops this afternoon (Sunday) to check it out and they were closed. I don't know if this is temporary or not but a sports bar being closed at 2:00 on the first Sunday of Football season is not a particularly good sign. I then went to Sharkeys and they were showing 5 different games at 2:30 with a fairly large and loud crowd: Skins & Bears, Steelers & Titans, Saints & Panthers, Bills & Texans, and the Jets & Chumps.

Sounds like Sharkeys is the place to be. Looking forward to it.

Jets and Chumps?!? HA! who's laughing now????

We went to Rooftops to see the GB game at 415; no one was there and they could not pull it up; looks like a great place, but no dice today. We went back to Sharkey's and saw GB lose to Detroit. The good news is I won a free beer (Coors) and a coolie. Sharkeys had a direct TV feed that kept going out periodically. I thought that DirectTV was not available on STX???? I'm still pulling for Rooftops.

For the Monday night games, one fun option is at Fort Christian Brew Pub on the boardwalk in Christiansted. In addition to having the game of the night on the multiple screens, it also is Steak & Ale night. If you buy a steak or the seafood special, all your locally brewed draft beer is free for the night up until 11 PM. They usually have about 5 different kinds on draft at any given time. Come early for the crab races, too!
