I'm just saying.... each airline has new rules now. And you take a chance if they check or don't. I would hate to be at the airport with the pets I love and some over zealous airline employee says oops, can't go onboard. They also require health certificates but usually don't check to see if you have them, would hate to be there the day they do check. I am an animal lover, just offering advice. I travel often with my animals, Kate

Hey Erin,

I read that you went to law school in downtown Atlanta. I'm assuming you went to Ga. State. I grauduated from that law school in 1998. I'm headed to St. Thomas the 1st week of June to check out the island for a possible move. I'll post a message about my visit upon returning.

Where in Florida do you live? I'm in the Palm Beach area. Feel free to e-amil me.

Ansley

They VI only started collecting this tax from individuals On Jan 1, 2004.

I haven't moved any freight shipments to the VI since then with a value of over $1,000 per shipment. Perhaps someone who has relocated since then can tell you how flexible the VI was in valuing shipments of personal property. I do know that you need a complete inventory of articles included in the shipment.

One thing to keep in mind is that you can ship by parcel post. As long as the shipment's value is less than $1,000 no tax is due.

I have shipped over 900 lbs of household goods using standard parcel post with no problems. Everything from crystal to bedding. No damage no losses! Priority mail is also works well. For $12.50 plus postage the post office will come right to your home and pick your shipment. A shipment can have as many boxes as you like and include both parcel post and priority mail.
