My mother is coming to stay with me 7 weeks and is active in a Red Hats group. Does anyone know who to contact on STX for local groups? She would love to visit and compare notes.

what is Red Hats? Never heard of it.

Red Hat Ladies are women groups of up to 20 members who attend functions ie. shows,lunchions once or twice a month and they wear big brimmed red hats, jewelry,purple dress outfits.It is a national thing going on now. I saw a group of them in the Mardi Croix parade by Off the Wall last February.

I also believe you are suppose to be over 50 years 'young' to join. It is for mature women to socialize. It comes from the poem, "When I'm an old woman I shall wear purple." Unfortunately, I don't know of any groups tho - sorry I can't help on that aspect.
