Alvin, have to agree with Ronnie, you need to clarify your question....

The Virgin Islands used to be the Danish West Indies.... so do you mean the very first governor of the colonies. If so I think that is George Iverson around 1672-1679 (LOL, had to look up the date. 🙂 and the Danish Colonies went through a whole lot of governors.....

Or, the first governor appointed when the US bought the islands...

Or first elected when Virgin Islanders were allowed to vote for their governor....

In any case here is the information for the USVI...

These were appointed by the federal gov...
Pearson, Paul M. 1931-1935
Cramer, Lawrence 1935-1941
Harwood, Charles 1941-1945
Hastie, William 1946-1949
deCastro, Morris F., 1950-1954
Alexander, Archibald 1954-1955
Gordon, Walter 1955-1958
Merwin, John D., 1958-1961
Paiewonsky, Ralph M., 1961-1969
Evans, Melvin H., 1969-1970

For elected persons.

Evans, Melvin H., 1971-1975
King, Cyril E., 1975-1978
Luis, Juan F., 1978-1987
Farrelly, Alexander A., 1987-1995
Schneider, Roy L., 1995 -1999
Turnbull, Charles W. 1999-present

You can find out more about "famous government + USVI folks" from
http://library.uvi.edu/vigov.htm

Ronnie mentioned Civilian or Navy.... I don't know who was governor during the military rule of the USVI during 1917-1931.... if you need that perhaps he can assist or you need to research it somemore.
